- Summon Shade: Summon a shade version of yourself to attack an enemy and fight at your side for 20 seconds. The shade slashes at an enemy, dealing [1228 / 1241 / 1254 / 1268] Magic Damage once every 2 seconds, and inflicts Minor Maim for 4 seconds, reducing the enemy's damage done by 5%.
- Dark Shade: Summon a shade version of yourself to attack an enemy and fight at your side for 20 seconds. The shade attacks nearby enemies within 9 meters of it, dealing [1651 / 1668 / 1687 / 1704] Magic Damage once every 2 seconds and afflicting them with Minor Maim for 4 seconds, reducing their damage done by 5%.
- Shadow Image: Cost: 3780 Magicka.
Summon a shade version of yourself to stay in place and attack an enemy from range for 20 seconds. The shade shoots at an enemy, dealing [1268 / 1281 / 1296 / 1310] Magic Damage every 2 seconds, and inflicts Minor Maim for 4 seconds, reducing the enemy's damage done by 5%. While the shade is summoned, you can activate this ability again for no cost to teleport to the shade's location.
Summon Shade summons a shade of yourself to fight at your side. The shade does Magic Damage, and reduces its targets' ability to cause damage. It can be controlled, but unlike most familiars, they are intangible. This means that they cannot be killed— and, likewise, can neither taunt nor tank damage. If you attempt to call a shade to attack, it will not persist unless you're in combat.
The Dark Shade morph looks identical to the unmorphed Shade, but persists for longer. It does more damage than its counter-morph, and will occasionally use a Whirlwind attack, hitting all enemies nearby. Aside from its extra skill, it behaves identical to its unmorphed version.
The Shadow Image morph wields a bow instead of daggers, and is stationary where you cast it. Casting the spell again while the Shadow Image is active will cause you to teleport to its location, which can be a good way to escape if you're overwhelmed. Although it has less overall damage than its counter-morph, its teleport feature gives it a bit more utility.

Patch NotesEdit
- Dark Shades: This ability now deals more damage as the ability ranks up.
- Fixed an issue where using this ability could cause a monster to stare at the summoned shade for several seconds before attacking you.
- Reduced the duration of this ability to 15 seconds
- Increased the damage of this ability to 3% of your maximum Magicka, and now provides the Minor Maim debuff.
- Dark Shades: This ability's duration now scales to 18 seconds with additional ranks of the ability.
- Shadow Image: This ability's duration now scales to 18 seconds with additional ranks of the ability. It also now deals damage equal to 4% of your maximum Magicka, and the cost of the teleport has been removed.
- Fixed an animation issue with your leg when using this ability while crouching.
- Adjusted the order of the Active Abilities in this skill line. They now unlock in the following order:
- Veiled Strike
- Shadow Cloak
- Path of Darkness
- Aspect of Terror
- Summon Shade
- Developer Comment: The goal of this change was to make sure early skills in the trees are simpler and more damage focused.
- The shade summoned by this ability and its morphs now more closely match your racial appearance for Argonian and Khajiit player characters, and will now immediately aggro and attack your target if you cast this while you are out of combat.
- Note that the ability activation still requires a valid target.
- Your summoned pets will now focus on attacking the target you heavy attack. Summon Shade, Summon Storm Atronach, and Maw of the Infernal Item Set have been added to this list of pets that obey your commands.
- Shadow Image: Fixed an issue where the pet summoned by this morph was not critically striking based on your Spell Critical.
- Shadow Image: Fixed an issue where attempting to teleport to your shade while you were out of range of it would cause you to lose some character functionality.
- Shadow Image (Summon Shade morph): Fixed an issue where you could not teleport to your shade if it was out of your line of sight.
- Known Issue: Teleporting to your shade will temporarily cause you to lose some character functionality, such as the ability to mount or interact with objects. We plan to fix this in a future patch, but in the meantime, you can swap weapons or reload as a temporary workaround.
- Shadow Image:
- If you are further than 28 meters away from your shade, this morph will now revert back to allowing you to summon a new shade, rather than letting you attempt to teleport to the shade and fail.
- Fixed an issue where teleporting or attempting to teleport to your shade would cause you to lose some character functionality, such as the ability to mount or interact with objects.
- Dark Shades: Renamed this morph to "Dark Shade". Singular. Because…
- This morph now summons one shade instead of two, and the shade will occasionally deal a point blank area of effect damage around it.
- Shadow Image:
- This morph can now be cast without an enemy target.
- Fixed an issue where the shade summoned by this morph would not apply Minor Maim to an enemy that blocked its projectile attack.
- Adjusted the ability to dodge various abilities and item set procs:
- The following can now be dodged:
- Death Stroke
- Summon Shade and its morphs (only the pet's attacks)
- Maw of the Infernal (only the pet's melee attacks)
- The following can now be dodged:
- Teleport abilities, such as Bolt Escape or Shadow Image, can no longer be cast before the Battleground match has started.
- Shadow Image: Fixed an issue where the Shadow Image's summoned monster would despawn or teleport to unreachable places if you went out of a certain range. The Shadow Image will now never move from their original placement.
- This ability now scales with the caster's Max Magicka and Spell Damage, or Stamina and Weapon Damage.
- The shades will now attack every 2 seconds, rather than every 1.5 seconds.
- Renamed the attacks the shades deal with each morph to help improve clarity.
- Fixed an issue where these abilities did not increase in damage as they ranked up.
- Dark Shade (morph): This ability now deals 50% more damage as a part of its morph functionality. The AoE attack it casts can happen 5% more frequently than before, and deals 20% more damage than the default attack.
- Dark Shade: Reduced the damage per hit of Corrosive Flurry by approximately 9%. The area attack, Corrosive Slash, now deals the same damage as the normal attack, instead of dealing 20% bonus damage.
- Shadow Image: Your Shadow Image has gotten over its misguided protective nature, and will now once again allow you to teleport to it when it is on a destructible piece of terrain such as keep walls, bridges, or resource towers. It also would like to apologize for the previous frustrations in your relationship, and wants you to know that it still loves you.
- Decreased the damage per hit of this ability and the Shadow Image morph by approximately 31% per hit.
- Fixed an issue where the attacks from this ability and its morphs were heavily desynced from their animations.
- Shadow Image (morph):
- Updated the tooltip information for this ability's teleport range to always respect the displayed value. It will no longer appear to scale with things like Battle Spirit or Propelling Shield.
- Dark Shade (morph):
- Increased the damage per hit of the Dark Shade morph by approximately 2%.
- Increased the radius of the area attack to 6 meters, up from 5 meters.
- The Shade will now use its Area Attack on a set timer, rather than having a chance per attack.
- This ability and the Dark Shade morph can now be cast without a target, as Shadow Image can.
- Shadow Image (morph): The shade from this ability no longer has player collision active, to prevent issues where it could become stuck or could be used as a stepping stool. Please be more considerate of your shade's feelings, as it is an extension of you, and you are worth it.
- Fixed an issue where this ability and morphs' pet could attack innocents in some cases.
- Shadow Image (morph): The shade from this ability will now spawn directly at your location when activated, and teleporting to it will put you directly at its location as well. These changes should add more precision to utilizing this ability, while also fixing issues where it could occasionally get you in areas you did not belong. Your shadow seems to be a pretty complicated person, perhaps some reflection would do you well?
- Shadow Image (morph): This ability's initial cast that summons the Shade can no longer be cast while in the air. The special activate to teleport to your Shade can still be cast while in the air and can now be cast while falling from a great height.
- Developer Comment: Overall, this will fix situations where your Shade could get spawned midair or cause you to teleport to areas you do not belong, while also allowing for more hardcore parkour and sick nasty plays when using the teleport function.
- This ability and its morphs now last 20 seconds, rather than ranking up to between 12 and 18 seconds.
- Increased the damage per hit of Summon Shade and Shadow Image by approximately 16%.
- Reduced the cost of this ability and the Dark Shade morph to 2970, down from 4050.
- Dark Shade (morph): Reduced the damage per hit of this morph by approximately 25%.
- Shadow Image (morph): Reduced the cost of this morph to 3780, down from 4050.
- Fixed an issue where this ability and the Dark Shade morph could return as ranged abilities in some cases.
