Quest-Related EventsEdit
After meeting Rigurt the Brash, you will need to find his fellow diplomats to pay their part of the dining bill, so he can get his ceremonial sceptre returned to him. It will turn out Tanillin drank aalot during their outing and was taken back to Steadfast Manor in a cart.
When you arrive at the Manor, you can find a sick Tanillin asleep on a bed. Healer Jenille's Note notes that she has drunk a lot of Rotmeth, which may of lead to some incidental poisoning. When you speak with Rigurt about this, he says he gave her rotmeth so she would have "a taste of home", but admits he got high elves and wood elves mixed up.
After you find and give her the juice from a Mammoth Ear leaf, it will wake her up but she will still be swaying. Speak with her to explain what has happened.
- "Ugh. Surely death would be more preferable to … this. Still, I thank you for waking me. I was having the most horrific dreams.
Who are you, again?" - I'm <Player Name>, and I'm helping Rigurt. What happened last night?
- "In the spirit of cultural bridge-building, I joined Ulgonash and Rigurt for dinner. A routine exchange, but Rigurt ordered food and drinks all night long.
Why? What's going on?" - The innkeeper says that no one paid the bill.
- "Oh. I'm afraid I have no idea if I paid or not. I don't even remember leaving the inn. It's entirely possible that I forgot to contribute toward the bill in my condition.
What in the world did I have to drink?" - The healer's note said you drank rotmeth. A lot of it.
- "Oh my goodness! That's disgusting. No wonder I got sick!
I promise I'll return to the inn and settle up soon. Now if you'll excuse me … all of the sudden I'm not feeling so good." - You don't look so good ….
When the conversation ends, she will begin vomiting. If you talk with her before you leave:
- "I can't believe I drank rotmeth last night! What was I thinking?
I feel terrible."
If she's the last diplomat to help, she will alternatively say:
- "You go on ahead to the inn—I'll meet you there shortly. I'm afraid I will need a moment."
Once you have found Tanillin and Ulgonash and got them to promise to pay their share, you can find them at the Ancient Anchor Inn. Speaking with Tanillin before talking with Marisette Lemaitre.
- "I think this sorry affair is all settled, but you should talk to Marisette Lemaitre. I would like to know that she's willing to put last night behind us.
Ugh. I can't believe I drank rotmeth."
When Marisette hands over the scepter, you have the chance of speaking with Tanillin before talking with Rigurt and completing the quest:
- "I am positively mortified. In all my years of diplomatic work I have never been involved in such a scene.
I would be in your debt if you could convince Rigurt to never bring this up again." - Is last night coming back to you now?
- "Look, it's embarrassing enough without you rubbing it in.
We drank far too much. Rigurt bought me rotmeth, thinking it was a taste of home and not some nasty Wood Elf swill. And I downed it without even looking to see what it was!" - Why did you keep drinking the rotmeth?
- "Because Rigurt kept buying them! It's the first rule of diplomacy: Don't embarrass your host by refusing what they give you. But the second rule is don't make your guests drink like a Wood Elf pirate.
Evidently Rigurt didn't know that."
Once you got Rigurt's scepter and before you turn in the quest to him, you can speak to Tanillin:
- "Do you have that silly scepter? Good. Give it to Rigurt, please. And see if you can convince him to never bring this up again."
After the quest is completed:
- Rigurt the Brash: "Another diplomatic success! Thank you, friends, for an unforgettable night."
- Tanillin: "It was certainly a, well, unique experience."
- Ulgonash: "Agreed. It was unique. Let's all agree to never speak of it again."
Speaking to her after the quest:
- "I appreciate your help … and I hope you have the tact to never speak of what happened last night. The Dominion frankly expects more of its diplomats than carrying on like common drunkards.
Now, I need to go lie down."
