A prisoner of the Worm Cult, the archmage Vanus Galerion managed to send a cryptic message to the Stirk Fellowship. I agreed to help Gabrielle Benele establish contact with Vanus and find out what more he has learned about the Worm Cult's plans.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

In his message, Vanus mentioned that the Writhing Wall is thin near Li-Xal Pass pass: Gabrielle asks that you accompany her in taking Vanus's staff to this vantage point so she can attempt to establish contact with the Great Mage. From the Sunport Docks Wayshrine, take the main road leading north. Once you reach Deetra Grotto, head west and follow the shoreline north until you reach a set of ancient Argonian stairs. Ascend the steps, and you'll find Li-Xal Pass nestled in the mountainside.

Once inside, it becomes evident that the Worm Cult occupies these cliffs... what's more, they're sharing the place with the local fauna. Gabrielle brought grapple bows for vertical traversal: talk to her to receive yours. Your first grapple point lies on a ledge above a Vahath Behemoth. You don't necessarily need to tangle with the beast, as you can kill the nearby hackwings and grapple from their vantage point. You'll find your next grapple point above a Worm Cult Deathsinger and their two Coldharbour Death Hounds. Once you're up, turn around to find the next grapple point: you'll find yourself in front of a cave filled with bismuth deposits. Near the end of this tunnel, you'll come across a place where the veil is weak: it appears Coldharbour is leaking into Nirn. This is where Gabrielle will attempt to make contact with Vanus. Once she establishes a connection, you'll need to speak with the Great Mage. dialogue here

The Worm Cult transported Vanus from Coldharbour to a prison on the other side of the Writhing Wall. Vanus reveals that the Worm Cult is attempting to bring Coldharbour into Nirn: a sort of "reverse" Planemeld. He also mentions that he has an ally on the other side of the wall before the connection drops: the wall's thickness fluctuates, so you'll have to find another weak point in order to contact Vanus again.

Your next grapple point lies upon the xanmeer above a titan on the cliffs outside the bismuth cave. Look behind you for another grapple point on a far off Argonian-style structure sitting atop a southward cliff. Next you'll fire your grapple bow at the structure built into the cliff to the east. Another ripple in the wall occurs in the cave beyond, past a pair of Feral Soul Shriven.

Vanus inquires as to how far the reverse Planemeld has progressed on your end: since you're not seeing floating rocks or pools of azure plasm, you should be fine. Wormblood is gathering an army of necromancers and Daedra on the other side of the Wall. Vanus is only able to spit out something about how Wormblood is powering the wall with some sort of relic that's being fed by the soul reapers before he's cut off again: you'll need to find another vulnerability in the Wall.

Your next grapple point lies a short ways further into the cave, beyond a Soul Shriven Behemoth, then you'll grapple to the Argonian structure on the cliff to the east. The next two grapple points lie to the south: you'll then turn around and grapple up facing northeast, to an outcrop on the cave wall above. The last grapple point lies off to the west. The door ahead leads you out of the pass to Li-Xal Cove, where you'll climb a set of stone stairs to speak with Vanus one final time.

Vanus informs you that the Gift of Death is hidden in Vosgah Shrine, the site of a sacred teeba-hatsei court. The shrine lies in the hills south of Sunport. Gabrielle wants you to go on ahead to Vosgah Shrine while she warns the fellowship at Sunport. You can grapple down to the cove below via the western edge of the xanmeer: from there, you can travel back to the entrance of Li-Xal Pass by boat.

Vosgah Shrine lies at the southern end of the island, about as far as possible from Li-Xal. The Vale of Revelry Wayshrine is the right in front of the location. If you haven't unlocked it yet, travel to the Shell-Tide Village Wayshrine and take the road west, heading south at the second fork in the road: ignore the first fork, as it takes you to Shell-Tide Village.

You'll find Razum-dar within the entrance of the temple. He informs you that Wormblood and his lackeys are up ahead, in the ball court. You'll need to fight or sneak your way through the ruined court to reach the Teeba-Hatsei Ritual Altar at the north end of the temple. There, you'll find Wormblood: you need to defeat him. The pillars holding the ceiling will be damaged during the fight. Once the deed is done, loot the stone coffer and take the Gift of Death. Just when you think you've won, Wormblood begins to resurrect: Raz tells you to break the damaged columns while he holds Wormblood down. Knock the pillars down and escape through the eastern door, then bring the Gift of Death to Prince Azah at Vinutilmo Palace in Sunport. dialogue here

Once again the Writhing Wall sealed itself before I finished my conversation with Vanus Galerion. We should continue up the pass and locate another place where he can reach us.
