Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Prince Azah wants you and Walks-in-Ash to investigate the "Passages Beneath" mentioned in Wormblood's orders to Mage Farinor, and intercept an important shipment... but where to start? Walks-in-Ash mentions that she captured a Worm Cult bonelord during recconnaissance in the Palace District: her prisoner is being kept in Sunport's local guard house. You might be able to carry out a fruitful interrogation, as she doubts the cultist will be happy to see her.

Head over to the western plaza: the guard house is located northwest of Port Produce and Provisions. Once inside, speak with Bonelord Kagazal. Kagazal informs you that the Passages Beneath are located in Tarnur Mine, and that there is a vital shipment being carried through very soon. He doesn't know anything further than that. Speak with Walks-in-Ash once your interrogation is finished, then head on over to Tarnur Mine.

Starting at the Shell-Tide Village Wayshrine, travel about halfway down the road heading east towards the Writhing Wall before climbing the hill to the north. Meet up with Walks-in-Ash inside the mine. The path splits not terribly far inside: Walks-in-Ash will investigate the right path while you go left.

Head up the eastern path to progress: if you instead head down the southern path, you'll see Walks-in-Ash traversing a wooden platform: she'll inform you that there's nothing the way she went. Your path will open into a cavern with xanmeer ruins and numerous cultists: head down the stone stairs and you'll find a Tarnur Mine Report on a nearby table. Follow the minecart tracks into the tunnel ahead: you'll find a cavern at the end of the path. A Giant Spider is not terribly far into the tunnel: you may have to kill it in order to proceed. The Writhing Wall is visible at the end of the cavern ahead, near an underground river that runs east through the mountains and beneath the wall. A barge is stationed in the river.

Walks-in-Ash instructs you to investigate the barge: perhaps the cult's precious cargo has already been loaded. Aboard you'll find a sarcophagus with a suspiciously familiar visage carved onto the lid: these are Mannimarco's remains! It's probably a bad idea to let Wormblood get his hands on this. Before you can do anything about it, Farinor summons Gutter, another of her pet flesh colossi, to knock you into the river, sending you careening over a waterfall. Collect yourself and talk to Walks-in-Ash. insert dialogue

Return to Sunport and speak with Prince Azah about your findings in Vinutilmo Palace. insert dialogue

Suddenly, a vision of Vanus Galerion is projected through Gabrielle's staff!

Gabrielle Benele: "It's strange. Vanus's staff is definitely pulling me somewhere. I think— ahh!"
<A vision of Vanus is illuminated by the staff.>
Gabrielle Benele: "Vanus? Where are you?"
Vanus Galerion: "Almost … bah, this is no good. Gabrielle? I have much to tell you. Bring my staff to Li-Xal, the wall is thin there!"
Vanus Galerion: "I'm in a Worm Cult prison. Listen, Wormblood is looking for a Sithis shrine in Solstice. I think he …."
Vanus Galerion: "… a relic called … Gift of …"
Vanus Galerion: "… Damn! I can't …"
<The vision of Vanus flickers out.>
Gabrielle Benele: "I think I know what we need to do. Friend, let's talk."
Regent Karinwe: "Li-Xal? That is a pass in the mountains north of Sunport. And there are several Sithis shrines in western Solstice.
Razum-dar: "If you could share the locations of these shrines, this one can scout them."
Skordo the Knife: "Me too. We'll find the right one."

Speak with Gabrielle to complete the quest. insert dialogue

Quest StagesEdit

The Passages Beneath
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
Prince Azah asked me to find the Passages Beneath and intercept the Worm Cult's important shipment there. He told me to start by enlisting the help of Walks-in-Ash.
Objective: Talk to Walks-in-Ash
Walks-in-Ash suggested questioning a Worm Cult officer captured during the Palace District battle. I should go to the Sunport guard house near the western gate to see what the prisoner knows.
Objective: Go to the Sunport Guard House
This prisoner must know something about the Worm Cult's movements and strategy. I need to find a way to get him to tell us what we need to know.
Objective: Talk to Bonelord Kagazal
The prisoner revealed that the Passages Beneath are located within the abandoned Tarnur Mine to the south. I should meet Walks-in-Ash there.
Objective: Go to Tarnur Mine
Optional Step: Talk to Walks-in-Ash
Dark Adept Farinor is protecting an important shipment for Wormblood that are being transported through the Passages Beneath. I should search the tunnels of Tarnur Mine for any Worm Cult activity.
Objective: Meet Walks-in-Ash in the Mine
The mining tunnels branched, so Walks-in-Ash and I decided to split up. I should explore the mine and search for Worm Cult activity while Walks does the same.
Objective: Explore the Mine
I found a barge in an underground river. If there's an important Worm Cult shipment in these tunnels, this would seem to be the place. I should search the barge.
Objective: Search the Barge
Farinor's flesh atronach Gutter knocked Walks-in-Ash and I off the barge into the river, which swept us downstream. We need to find a way out of the rushing current.
Objective: Escape the River
The underground river carried us out of Tarnur Mine. I should talk to Walks-in-Ash about what we found here.
Objective: Talk to Walks-in-Ash
Walks-in-Ash and I survived the Farinor's monster and the raging river, but Farinor escaped with Mannimarco's sarcophagus. I should return to Sunport to report what happened to Prince Azah.
Objective: Return to Prince Azah
I found Prince Azah in Vinutilmo Palace. I should talk to him about what we found in the Passages Beneath.
Objective: Talk to Prince Azah
A projection of Vanus Galerion appeared, channeled through the staff Gabrielle Benele carries. I should listen to the message.
Objective: Listen to Gabrielle Benele
Objective Hint: Listen to Vanus Galerion
Vanus Galerion is a prisoner of the Worm Cult, but he found a way to reach out to Gabrielle Benele. I should talk to her about what we heard before he faded away.
Objective: Talk to Gabrielle Benele
Finishes quest I learned that the Worm Cult has the remains of Mannimarco, the King of Worms. They are also holding the archmage Vanus Galerion prisoner. I should talk to Gabrielle Benele about our next steps.
Objective: Talk to Gabrielle Benele

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
