Mage Farinor is a Wood Elf member of the Mages Guild who can be met outside the walls of Sunport in Solstice.

The Stirk FellowshipEdit

After starting the quest and speaking with Midconjuror Mirmal, you will be asked to meet with Prince Azah and Mage Farinor outside Sunport, as they prepare to open a portal to bring the Alliance's representives to the Stirk Fellowship's campaign against the Worm Cult. When you approach the area, Midconjuror Mirmal will catch up:

Prince Azah: "What's the next step, Mage Farinor?"
<Green glyphs appear in Farinor's hand as she reads.>
Mage Farinor: "The portal anchors, when you're ready. Mirmal?"
Midconjuror Mirmal: "Go on. I'll follow your lead, Mage Farinor."
 
Portal ready to go

Speaking to Mage Farinor before Prince Azah:

"I'm a little busy. Portal spells of this magnitude can be tricky, and I'm not quite as skilled as Gabrielle. But if you're here to help, Prince Azah can tell you what we need."

Once you have spoken with Prince Azah and received four Portal Anchors, you can place them in the marked spots.

"Busy casting here! Just set up the portal anchors like the prince said. Then stand back and watch what happens."

After you have placed the anchors, Farinor will call out to you:

Mage Farinor: "Are the anchors all in place, newcomer?"

You can then talk to Farinor to give her the go-ahead to start the ritual:

"This is trickier than it looks. We're summoning multiple people from several locations at once, and Solstice is riddled with ancient magics that can interfere with teleportation spells.
Are the portal anchors in place?"
I set up the portal anchors. Anything else you need?
"No, the next steps in the ritual are mine to perform—with a little help from Mirmal, of course.
Just stand right there and don't move until I finish. It's important that the ritual goes exactly as I intend."
I understand.
 
"Stand back. This requires a special touch!"

As Farinor begins the ritual, Mirmal will assist:

Mage Farinor: "Stand back. This requires a special touch!"
Prince Azah: "First they will bring the foot soldiers through. Then the Alliance representatives."
<A portal opens and Stirk Fellowship Soldiers begin coming through.>
Midconjuror Mirmal: "What's happening? Gabrielle didn't do it this way!"
<The portal breaks and throws you back, many of the soldiers are hit by blue flames and are either killed or injured.>
Mage Farinor: "Ha! Such is the fate of all who defy the Black Worm!"
<Mage Farinor teleports away and the survivors pick themselves up.>
Prince Azah: "Unnh … where's Farinor? Mirmal, what just happened?"

With Mage Farinor gone, you can speak to Midconjuror Mirmal who reveals he tried to salvage the sabotaged portal but the representatives were redirected to places around Western Solstice. You will need to search for them and bring them back to Sunport, along with Gabrielle Benele.

The Regent of SunportEdit

After rescuing the abducted Regent Karinwe from the Worm Cult at Swencoast Cottage, she will warn you about a planned attack on Sunport's Palace District. When you arrive in the city, Prince Azah will inform you the attack is already underway. You can enter the district through one of the old town houses, along with the pair of Stirk Fellowship Soldiers accompanying you.

Soon after you enter the district, you will encounter Mage Farinor once more. She is dressed in Worm Cult attire and can be seen reporting to the projection of a High Elf:

Mage Farinor: "Master Wormblood, we hold the palace. But the Stirk Fellowship disrupted our plans. They are coming."
Wormblood: "Then delay them. I need time to find the Gift of Death."
Mage Farinor: "Yes, master. We shall hold the palace as long as possible."
<The projection disappears and Mage Farinor runs towards the palace.>

You and your soldier companions fight your way through the streets, destroying soul reapers and rescuing civilians along the way. After entering the palace, a gigantic armored flesh colossus waits in the hall, while Mage Farinor stands on the balcony.

As you approach, Farinor will tell the colossus to attack:

Mage Farinor: "Wretched dogs! Tidemuck, destroy these meddlers!"

Midway through the fight, Farinor will leave, leaving Tidemuck to be destroyed:

Mage Farinor: "You think you've won? Sunport is unimportant. The day of the Black Worm is coming!"

Skills and AbilitiesEdit

Mage Farinor jumps in the arena with two Shackled Titans when Gutter is defeated. As an elite rank enemy, Mage Farinor is immune to crowd control.

Necrotic Spear
Basic ranged attack dealing moderate frost damage.
Stalking Bolts
Mage Farinor casts lightning strikes on you that land after a brief delay, each dealing moderate shock damage and briefly snaring in an area
Necrotic Pull
If you are too close to her, Mage Farinor lifts her staff to canalize a spell on you, making necrotic fumes appear under you. After a small delay, a ghostly hand grabs you which deals minor frost damage then pulls you away from her. This can be interrupted to stagger Mage Farinor. You can break free at any point.
Bone Surge
Mage Farinor casts a Bone Shield-like ability on herself which reduces her melee damage taken by ~35% until it disappears.

At 80%, 60% and 40% Health, Mage Farinor teleports to the center of the arena in a blue flash. She gets a large damage shield with no fading timer. She summons four friendly Flame Atronachs that slowly float towards her. Each Flame Atronach that reaches her dies then creates a burst of flames under you then three small flaming areas in a large ring around Mage Farinor. All those areas deal minor flame damage over time (Cold Fire Blast).

"Phalanx March" is unlocked once the 80% Health phase is done:

Phalanx March
Mage Farinor summons four Farinor's Shadows that walk as a phalanx throughout the arena. Getting close to one makes it explode, dealing very high magic damage in a small area around them. Darien Gautier will protect a line of the arena with his shield.

"Tenebrous Barrage" is unlocked once the 60% Health phase is done:

Tenebrous Barrage
Mage Farinor launches multiple dark-blue areas in a anti-clockwise pattern, each dealing fast ticks of moderate direct magic damage in an area.
