DialogueEdit
You'll see visions of Warlock Vanton speaking with Ansuul and exaggerations of his greatest fears projected as you traverse his nightmare. The first vision occurs as you enter the dream.
- Warlock Vanton: "Why is this happening?"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Because you are too scared to save the Mages Guild."
You'll witness Warlock Vanton facing Exarchanic Yaseyla in a vision beyond the second group of trash mobs.
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "Magical scum! All you're good for is kindling. This is for the lives you claim with your powers."
- Warlock Vanton: "Magic is a tool. It's not—"
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "Slit his throat before he tells more lies."
In front of a Mages Guildhall, you'll see an image of Wizard Twelvane defending Vanton. She is swiftly cut down.
- Wizard Twelvane: "Run, Vanton!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Come with me!"
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "If it isn't the wizard, Twelvane. You deserve my personal attention."
Upon entering Yaseyla's Execution Room, a vision will play out between Exarchanic Yaseyla, Wizard Twelvane, and Warlock Vanton. Exarchanic Yaseyla will demonstrate one of her fight mechanics and throw a frost bomb onto Wizard Twelvane, killing her and two other mage prisoners.
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "Your sorcery deceives good people. It brings nothing but pain, malpracticer!"
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "This is for my daughter."
- Wizard Twelvane: "Get it off! Help! Please!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Twelvane!"
Once Exarchanic Yaseyla is defeated, a vision of Warlock Vanton and Ansuul will play out. She speaks down at him from the throne.
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "You couldn't save Twelvane. You aren't powerful enough to save anyone. You're weak!"
- Warlock Vanton: "You can make this stop ... can't you?"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Together, we can make it so no mage is ever hunted again."
After the first group of trash mobs are defeated post-Exarchanic Yaseyla, a conversation between Ansuul and Warlock Vanton will play.
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "With Twelvane in charge, there will be no weaklings left. You'll rise above the rabble."
- Warlock Vanton: "I can't stand up to Twelvane. Not when she's like this."
On the second to last group of trash mobs before the Chimera's Den, another conversation between Ansuul and Warlock Vanton will play.
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "You're strong, Vanton. Don't you feel it?"
- Warlock Vanton: "This isn't right."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Join Twelvane. Take control. It's what you want."
- Warlock Vanton: "Is it?"
Once Archwizard Twelvane and Chimera are defeated, another vision of Warlock Vanton and Ansuul occur.
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Even when you have more power than you could dream of, you fail. You're nothing without me."
- Warlock Vanton: "That's not true. You're wrong. This feels ... wrong."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "I'm wrong? You're the one who failed time and time again. You need me, Vanton."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Open your mind. Let me in. Together, we can be strong."
Before taking the portal down to Ansuul, Warlock Vanton can be seen stabbing the ground. Once he sees the player, he speaks to them.
- Warlock Vanton: "Who are you? Are you one of hers? She's hurting me."
- Warlock Vanton: "I can't keep her out much longer. Help me. Please."
Once Ansuul has been defeated, Wizard Twelvane appears.
- Wizard Twelvane: "That did it! Vanton's calmed down. His mind feels clearer, too!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Wizard Twelvane? But … you died. Or you were a tyrant …."
- Wizard Twelvane: "All of that was a nightmare, Vanton. Ansuul is gone."
- Warlock Vanton: "It felt … so real."
- Wizard Twelvane: "Even in dreams, our emotions are real. Rest. You'll feel better when you wake."
Vanton then falls asleep.
Combat DialogueEdit
During battle, Ansuul will try to convince Vanton to give in to her corruption. She'll use one of three fears or emotions against him at the red, green, and blue altars.
When Ansuul summons a maze:
- Warlock Vanton: "Get her out of my head!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Stop her. Please!"
- Warlock Vanton: "It hurts. She's hurting me."
- Warlock Vanton: "I didn't want this. Make her stop!"
While the maze is up:
- Warlock Vanton: "This isn't right … is it?"
- Warlock Vanton: "This isn't me, is it?"
- Warlock Vanton: "I don't feel right."
- Warlock Vanton: "You're lying to me. Get out of my head, Ansuul!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Help! She's making sense."
- Warlock Vanton: "She's messing with my mind."
If she is successful at the green altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "I'm nothing. But, together we're more powerful. And no one will stand in our way."
When Ansuul fails at the green altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "I was something. A powerful mage. This is my head. Get out of it!"
- Warlock Vanton: "This isn't right. You're twisting my mind. Stop it!"
Once the poison maze is cleared, you must beat Vanton down:
- Warlock Vanton: "Ansuul and I cannot be stopped, in any reality."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "With your body and my power we will make everyone live in fear."
- Warlock Vanton: "This can't be happening. Why are they fighting back?"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "You're weak, Vanton. But we have the strength to keep fighting."
- Warlock Vanton: "I see it now. You can make me strong, Ansuul."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "That's right. Together, we will carry out Vaermina's will."
If she is successful at the red altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "You come into my mind without my permission? You deserve to burn!"
Once the fire maze is cleared, you must beat Vanton down:
- Warlock Vanton: "You want to keep me small and afraid."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Perfect, Vanton. Use that anger. Fight back against them."
- Warlock Vanton: "Who gave you the right? This is my mind!"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "They're afraid of you, Vanton. Afraid you'll burn them."
- Warlock Vanton: "My anger is my strength. I'll burn everything that stands in my way!"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "Your hatred will serve Vaermina well!"
When Ansuul fails at the red altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "No. I don't want to be that angry. Not ever."
- Warlock Vanton: "You're wrong. I know who I am and this isn't me."
If she is successful at the blue altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "We did accomplish a lot. But I can't rule with all these people in my head!"
Once the lightning maze is cleared, you must beat Vanton down:
- Warlock Vanton: "You're keeping me from reaching my potential."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "That's right. They want you to be weak. Powerless."
- Warlock Vanton: "Why are you trying to hold me back?"
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "They don't think you're strong enough. Destroy them."
- Warlock Vanton: "You're just like Twelvane. Always putting me down—stomping on my abilities."
- Ansuul the Tormentor: "No one will be able to stop you anymore. Vaermina will see to that."
When Ansuul fails at the blue altar:
- Warlock Vanton: "I'm no ruler. You made me do terrible things! I don't want that."
- Warlock Vanton: "No, this isn't who I am. This isn't what I want to be!"
