Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Supply TroublesEdit
Llothanis' resident tailor, Merlador has what he calls a "little problem". It seems that a shipment of cloth and other supplies that he ordered from Old Ebonheart is months overdue and he is worried for his investment. He will direct you to speak with the shipmaster in Tel Ouada, and gives you a letter in case you need to convince the ship's captain to hand over his cargo.
Following the ThreadEdit
Take the river strider to Tel Ouada and talk to Dunveri Rodran, the local shipmaster about the Elfmaid. He will tell you that the ship often travels between Llothanis and Old Ebonheart, and that the most likely place for a ship to run into trouble is when it tries to tack into headwinds around Althoa Island, near Bal Oyra.
The next place to investigate is obviously Bal Oyra, and Rodran will take you there for a small fee. Once there, you will see the Elfmaid in dock.
Repairing the ElfmaidEdit
With Merlador's letter in your inventory, talk to the captain of the Elfmaid, Leile Guiscar about the fabric shipment and Elfmaid's repairs, and she will tell you that the ship still isn't seaworthy. Leile had hired a local, Nidril Tadare, to make the repairs. However, he has proven unreliable. You'll need to convince him to resume work. You can find Nidril in his house. He's upset that the job has proved much bigger than he anticipated, and so his tools have broken as a result. With 25 Armorer or higher, you can successfully repair them. Otherwise, you'll need to pay him 50 gold (if over 75 disposition), or 100 gold if not. He will demand 200 gold if you have tried and failed to repair his tools.
Once an agreement has been reached, return to Leile Guiscar and talk to her about the Elfmaid's repairs. She'll pronounce herself satisfied and direct you to go below decks to talk to Asint. Asint will give you Merlador's shipment, which you can then take directly to Merlador in Llothanis to complete the quest.
NotesEdit
- Each time you refuse to take the quest for Merlador, his disposition towards you drops by five points.
- Once Merlador has his supplies, he will begin to make new clothes that will be added to his inventory and made available for purchase. After two days, he gets an extravagant robe, expensive robe and exquisite skirt; after four days, he makes exquisite pants, and an extravagant belt and shirt; after six days, he gets an expensive robe, extravagant robe and exquisite shirt. It seems that is all he can make from the new supplies.

10 | Merlador, the Altmer clothier in Llothanis, has told me that a shipment of cloth and supplies he was expecting to receive from Old Ebonheart has gone missing. The cloth was being carried on a ship called the Elfmaid, which was set to call in Tel Ouada and then Llothanis. It failed to arrive in Tel Ouada; I should try to locate this shipment. Merlador directed me to speak with Dunveri Rodran in Tel Ouada.
11 | Dunveri Rodran says that ships are often sunk while trying to round Althoa Island. It was suggested that I search for the wreckage there. It is also possible that -- if the ship was only damaged -- it has docked at Bal Oyra to make repairs.
19 | The captain of the Elfmaid was displeased that Merlador no longer requires their services. She refused to hand over the cargo unless I helped solve her problem. Since Nidril Tadare is dead, she is no longer willing to discuss the shipment at all.
20 | The captain of the Elfmaid is displeased that Merlador no longer requires their services. She refuses to hand over the cargo unless I help solve her problem. A local Dunmer named Nidril Tadare had been making repairs to the Elfmaid, but recently stopped work. I need to convince him to finish the job. Nidril is in his house in Bal Oyra.
22 | Nidril Tadare feels he is being paid too little for his work. He wants to receive more before he resumes his work.
23 | Nidril Tadare was angered by my failed attempt at tool repair. His price to resume work is now higher.
30 | I paid Nidril Tadare enough to convince him to resume work.
35 | I mended Nidril Tadare's tools. He was satisfied with the result and has agreed to resume work.
40 | Leile Guiscard is now willing to hand over Merlador's shipment. It is being watched over by Asint, in the Elfmaid's hold.
45 | I have recovered the shipment of goods bound for Merlador.
100 | I have handed the shipment over to Merlador. He has paid me 125 gold pieces for my trouble.
101 | I have handed the shipment over to Merlador. He has agreed to make me an extravagant set of clothes as a reward. I should return and get them the day after tomorrow. |
