WelcomeEdit
Hi Heyjude! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Help Contents: a list of in-depth Help pages
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! --Xyzzy Talk 13:36, 23 October 2013 (GMT)
EtiquetteEdit
Can you please moderate your tone a bit? Comments like this are not appropriate for wiki discussion. The purpose of discussing things like this is to get confirmation from multiple sources that something is true. Just because something is the case for one person doesn't automatically mean it applies to everyone, which is why it's important that we can get external confirmation before adding something to a page. No matter how sure you are that you're right, it is never appropriate to cut off a discussion before consensus has been reached. I strongly advise you to review our policies on etiquette and consensus before you make any further edits, as continuing to make comments like the one linked to above will likely result in you being blocked from editing. - I'm sorry, I had no intention of being offensive, but all facts needs verification, the claim made there was not to be found anywhere (nor it is possible to observe it). Frankly it does not exist in theory or practice. — Unsigned comment by Heyjude (talk • contribs) on 17:43 October 24, 2013
- If I may butt in here, the point is not that the "50% slower" thing is unverified; policy is (i believe) to assume that information that was on the page previously is correct until there's proof otherwise. The person who put it there in the first place must have had a reason or it would have been removed by this same policy. Xolroc (talk) 21:48, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
- Quite right. It's also worth noting that information like that needs to be verified with information from the game. It may very well be that you're correct, but until we know for certain, it would be better to not add it. We get all kinds of unverified information added to the site which is difficult to test, which is why we usually require verification from at least two different users before considering something "fact". What may be the case for you may not apply to everyone else. And as Xyzzy said, information needs to be verified in the game files, as visual perception can be misleading and is often unreliable as a source of information. NoticeEdit
You are on the brink of edit warring over the Skyrim:Combat page. Please stop readding that same piece of information until the discussion has been resolved. Additionally, your contributions to the talk page of that article seem more than a bit passive-aggressive. You shouldn't be offended by reverts to your edits, it just means that the issue needs to be discussed. Please remember to assume good faith on the part of other users, and wait for the discussion to reach a conclusion. Any further additions of that statement to the page without the consensus of other editors will be treated as edit warring, and will result in an official warning. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me by leaving a message on my talk page.
Best wishes,
ThuumofReason (talk) 21:43, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
