When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

LinksEdit
Yo, what's up. Just wanted to explain the changes I did on Katariah. It's better to use the actual name instead of an anchor because it helps collect all instances of that name into the what links here page and helps in researching that particular subject. So if I wanted to do a page on Montalius, I can look under his name for everytime he's linked in a book or a page, versus the other way, where its a massive list of pages that may not have anything to do with him. Same goes with Solitude (kingdom)/Haafingar. In that specific instance, the kingdom/region is called Solitude so I think its best to categorize it like that and avoid confusion with people who'd want to link it to the city.
Personally for me, typing out "Lore:People M#Montalius" is just a little more tedious than just writing "Montalius", and plus it's less standard. Those links also had anchors to their entries so the issue of not taking you to the entry wouldn't have happened. If you find that problem, you can fix that by either changing the link on the redirect page or placing the anchor on the entry's heading with the anchor template. Hope that helps. --Vincentius1 (talk) 13:11, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Do most people search by using the what links here page? Anytime I am looking for something, I just put the word or phrase in quotation marks and search. If you do a page on Montalius, that is a waste of time because he is mentioned in one sentence, as far as I'm aware. The same goes for Gallivere Lariat, on whom we have more information but there still isn't much information on him, and he doesn't deserve his own page, especially when someone like Titus Mede I doesn't have their own page. The page is called Haafingar, so I don't see the point in typing in Solitude (kingdom) when that is simply a redirect to the Haafingar page. It is absurd that you want the links written a certain way simply because you might make a page on the subject.
- Why does it being tedious matter? If I feel like doing it that way, why does it matter? I clicked on the links for Montalius and Gallivere Lariat, and neither link took me to the correct entry. I am aware that the entries have anchors, but they rarely seem to work correctly. In my experience, when you are redirected to the people pages, it doesn't usually put you on the correct entry unless the link uses the people# anchor or the anchor template. I appreciate the help, but I don't find your arguments and reasons very convincing. I'm not going to get into an editing war, so I won't mess with the links again. Tiber Septim editsEdit
Oops! I didn't read the article closely enough. I was thinking 'enumerated' referrred to all the names/titles which followed. Feel free to revert.--Draugluin (talk) 11:06, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Kingdom MergesEdit
Hey there! I don't mind the kingdom pages staying if there is good reason for it, but just removing the merge proposal without solving the core issue doesn't address the problem. As explained at Lore talk:Empires, these pages are functionally orphans as they only link to each other, and only exist because they were forked out of that parent article. The main province pages cover most of the pertinent information already, and a visitor looking for information on the "Kingdom of Hammerfell" or the "Kingdom of Black Marsh" would logically start on the Hammerfell or Black Marsh province pages. There is currently no way to get from there to the Kingdom pages, so either the Kingdom pages need to be merged, or the History sections of the province pages need to be updated to account for the fact that the Kingdom pages exist. --Enodoc (talk) 12:43, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to you. The reason I removed some of your merge proposals is because you did not say anywhere on those pages why you believe they should be merged with other pages. I disagree that a visitor looking for information on the "Kingdom of Hammerfell" or the "Kingdom of Black Marsh" would logically start on the Hammerfell or Black Marsh province pages. I believe that someone looking for information on specific empires, kingdoms, etc., would prefer to read about the history of these specific states, not the province's history. The only page I believe should be merged is the Kingdom of Black Marsh page because its information is pretty limited. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but what do you mean by "There is currently no way to get from there to the Kingdom pages"? All that someone needs to do is put the links to the kingdom pages on the province pages. Savirien-Chorak (talk) 23:10, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
