Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Reaping What You SowEdit

After slaying Thorina, make your way back to the exit of Cutpurse Hideout. Once you reach the stables in the first large chamber you will find five Cutters looking over the bodies of their fallen comrades. Of the five, one is a boss-level Lieutenant, one is a spellslinger, one is a melee fighter and the other two are sharpshooters. Battle past them and make for the exit.

Head back to Castle Bruma to claim your well deserved reward. You will first be greeted by Captain Adius, who will praise your deeds and lead you to the Count. In front of the assembled nobles of his court, Count Desilus Carvain will thank you for your service and, to thunderous applause, bestow upon you the enchanted blade Hvitbrand, 1500 gold and the title of Friend to Bruma, which allows you to purchase the property White Pine Lodge from his steward Rignar. After having asked you the reasons behind your actions and given you a stark warning about getting involved in Cyrodiilic politics, he will pass you back to his guard captain.

Adius will thank you again and confess that, despite his earlier misgivings, he's not thinking about retiring anymore, and asks you to follow him outside the Castle. From here, there are two different endings, depending on your choices in A Delicate Situation:

  1. If you convinced Aera the Devout and her followers to stop worshiping Talos, you and Adius will walk out peacefully and the quest will complete.
  2. If you left the worshipers alone or asked them to lie low, just outside of the castle you will be greeted by Armion, his Adjutant and two Thalmor guards. The Justiciar will mock Adius, almost amused that the guard captain thought he could hide the Talos worshipers from him. He declares the captain in breach of the White-Gold Concordat, casts a paralysing shock spell on you and teleports his whole party plus Adius off to Blue River Prison.

NotesEdit

  • It not possible to interfere with the Thalmor: attacking them will simply net you a bounty for assault and they will still be able to teleport.
  • If Adius is taken by the Thalmor, his replacement will depend on your choices in the Blade of the Cutpurse quest. Either Ereia Snow-Fist or Garceus Avoci will become the new guard captain, depending on which of the two you gave the sword to. If you did not complete the quest, or kept the sword for yourself, Ereia will take up the position.
  • Even if Adius is taken away by the Thalmor, Aera and her followers will remain at the Camp of the Devout after the quest is complete.
  • If you have completed Within the Ruins, the enchanted blade Hvitbrand can be tempered in the white Akaviri flames in Fort Pale Pass Substructure, thereby improving its enchantment and value.

Quest StagesEdit

Service Rewarded (CYRBrumaMS10)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
0 With the death of Thorina, Adius's final piece of unfinished business as the captain of the Bruma Guard is resolved. He's asked me to meet him in Bruma to receive a fitting reward for my service.
Objective 1: Speak with Adius in Bruma about a reward for your service
10 I met with Adius on the streets of Bruma. He's asked me to follow him to receive the reward for my service.
Objective 10: Follow Adius
20 I've spoken with Count Desilus Carvain, who has granted me the ability to purchase property in Bruma, a significant sum of gold from the Bruma treasury and other rewards from the county coffers, including the blade Hvitbrand. He mentioned that Adius would like to speak with me before I depart.
Objective 20: Speak with Adius
30 I've done much for County Bruma and its guard captain, but now, it seems, my services are no longer required... for the moment. Adius has offered to see me out of the castle. Either way, my work here - for now - is done.
Objective 30: Exit Castle Bruma with Adius
50 Finishes quest  I met Adius in Bruma to receive my reward for vanquishing Thorina's Cutters. It was significant - Count Carvain granted me a large sum of coin from the Bruma treasury, among other rewards, and the right to purchase property in the city. The celebration, however, was short-lived: Armion and a group of Thalmor agents arrested Adius for shielding the Talos worshippers at the Camp of the Devout. It seems the choice I made when dealing with Aera was not without its consequences, and Adius is now headed to Blue River Prison, where he will serve a presumably indefinite sentence.
100 Finishes quest  I met Adius in Bruma to receive my reward for vanquishing Thorina's Cutters. It was significant - Count Carvain granted me a large sum of coin from the Bruma treasury, among other rewards, and the right to purchase property in the city. Adius led me out of Castle Bruma and bid me a heartfelt farewell. It seems I am no longer needed by the Bruma court or its guard captain... though I'm sure one day they'll call upon me again.
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 1, 15, 16, 31, 32, 35, 40, 60, 200.
Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage CYRBrumaMS10 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest CYRBrumaMS10.
