Nilphas Omellian

Nilphas Omellian, a Dark Elf trader, is a merchant added by the Fighter's Stronghold official download living at the Merchants Inn. He will provide you all the upgrades to restore Battlehorn Castle to its former glory.

As you will learn from Lord Kelvyn's Will, the hard times that fell upon the castle mean you'll need to pay off various debts to Nilphas before you can restore it to its former glory:

"I am afraid that the fortunes of Battlehorn Castle have fallen on hard times. What resources I had available I devoted to maintaining the castle itself -- its walls still stand strong and its hearths still provide warmth. Sadly, this came at great cost, and many of the items within its walls had to be sold in order to meet the enormous payments such maintenance begets. If you find yourself with the means to restore Battlehorn Castle to its former glory, a friend of my father's named Nilphas Omellian still holds many of the castle accoutrements [sic] in storage and on account. All that is required is to repay the Castle's debts to Nilphas, and I'm certain he'll happily return the items."

All day long he follows a simple and straight routine. He rises at 6am and then spends most of the day simply wandering around the ground floor of the inn, offering his services. At 8pm he will have dinner for two hours. After having satisfied his appetite, he returns to wandering around the inn, occasionally talking to one of the other merchants having dinner. At midnight he calls it a day, stops offering his services and heads back to his room to sleep. He will offer his services at all times.

Along with Rowley Eardwulf and Aurelinwae, Nilphas is one of the richest merchants in the game, with 2000 gold available for trading. This sum can be raised by investing in his store and raised even more once you are a master of Mercantile, at which point he will have a total of 3000 gold.

His attire consists of a shirt with suspenders along with short britches and a pair of thick cowhide shoes. He also carries a small leveled amount of gold. He can use spells from all six schools of magic.

DialogueEdit

When first spoken to:

"Allow me to extend my congratulations on your daring victory. I am at your service. I have everything you need to make the place more livable. Here, take this list."

Subsequent greeting:

"Whatever you need, I'm at your service."

NotesEdit

  • All of Nilphas' dialogue is reused from elsewhere. His initial greeting actually consists of three different lines spliced together. The first two sentences originate from generic Skingrad rumors after closing the Oblivion Gate there. The second sentence is another splice, with the majority of it being derived from Count Andel Indarys' house buying dialogue. The third sentence is taken from a line intended for a removed radiant questing system that goes unused normally, the note attached to this dialogue entry even mentions this specifically. His subsequent greeting comes from Diram Serethi's dialogue upon completion of Zero Visibility.
  • His shirt with suspenders is one of only five in existence (four without Shivering Isles installed). Since he is always essential, obtaining the item may prove next to impossible without the use of exploits.

BugsEdit

  • Any item that you sell to him will also appear in Velus Hosidius' barter inventory.
  • Feeding on him as a vampire will cause him to stand at the top of the stairs for the remainder of his next business day, preventing him from receiving the trade option. This can be fixed by pushing him down the stairs, after which he will work regularly. ?
