WalkthroughEdit
This quest starts when you kill Bandit Leader Yessil (see Sword Search) and read his note. It tells you to go to the Sun Temple, which is located west of Kathar, at the north end of a field of ruins. The guard at the door is dead, as are the people you encounter as you go inside; there is, however, one person left alive in the last room. If you're wearing a robe like the one you found on Yessil (if you don't have it anymore, you can grab one from a dead cultist), you'll get a journal update mentioning that HE (whoever that is) "broke the sundial".
The Sundial is located at the south end of the same ruins; go there, and you'll find the cult leader, who will attack you. He carries a sword, but it's not Tyrfing - another dead end. He does, however, have a journal and a key - he mentions a stash of loot at the sphinx west of Kathar. As it so happens, there are two sphinxes in the ruins, in the southeast corner. The northern one has a door, which the key opens. Go inside, loot the place, and take the Picture of Tyrfing on the altar (you'll need this later, so don't lose it). The gate will close, and two skeleton undead will appear; kill them, and you can leave.
Journal EntriesEdit
Sun and Darkness (ODDDesertSTQuest) | ||
---|---|---|
Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
5 | I killed Yessil, the bandit chieftain. Maybe he has something useful with him? | |
8 | A package. Maybe is something useful in it? | |
10 | Yessil, the desert bandit chieftain, had a package with him. In it, I found a letter and a robe. | |
20 | The bandit chieftain Yessil seems to have been invited to a clandestine meeting. A meeting of sword cultists. Maybe I could use the robe and take Yessil's place? (If Sword Search is not active.) or |
|
30 | There's a dead man in front of the Sun Temple. I suspect it is cultists' guardian. Just why is he dead? | |
40 | I have found a survivor. He seemed confused and stammered something about HE and the Godsword. He can hardly believe that Tyrfing is now owned by Mephala himself. (If the player is not wearing a cultist robe.) or |
|
50 | The leader of the cultists is dead, but the sword that made him seem insane is not Tyrfing. Maybe he has something on him that explains what happened here. or |
|
60 | From a journal that the cultists' leader had on him, I learned that the cult actually worshipped Tyrfing. While searching for Tyrfing, they encountered another blade called Bloodsmell. Apparently it's not a different name for Tyrfing as the leader assumed, but a cursed weapon of Molag Bal. But he writes that the cult's greatest treasure is still hidden in a sphinx west of Kathar. | |
100 | I took the page with the depiction of Tyrfing. |
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ODDDesertSTQuest stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
