reward
hey, I played on 360 and i was able to get the reward of the count over and over again by just talking about it. Is that normal? 81.69.203.77 13:52, 2 January 2008 (EST)
- Yes! The information is already mentioned on the quest page and several times on this one. This is fixed by one of the patches. —Rpeh•T•C•E• 13:57, 2 January 2008 (EST)
The Face Bug
After reading this page during the quest, I became concerned about the face bug. while I did set up a pre-vampirism save file, I ended up not having to use it. In order to prevent my face from looking old after the cure was administered, I fed on the witch herself before I took the cure. I had gathered all the ingredients for her, and returned to her house at night. I trespassed and found her asleep in her bed. I promptly fed on her, then woke her up, got the cure and left with a fresh young face. This isn't always going to be possible to do, but if the opportunity presents itself I suggest you take it. --Mole126Talk 00:19, 5 March 2008 (EST)
Grand Soul Gems in Chorrol
There have been various different reports of the number of empty grand soul gems in the Chorrol mages guild ('a few', five, and one). Can anybody confirm how many empty ones there are? I remember 'borrowing' all of the soul gems in all of the display cases in the mages guild, including several grand ones, but I can't remember how many were empty. --Gaebrial 09:23, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
- I confirmed the number of empty Grand Soul Gems in the editor and in the game, just to be safe. There are several filled Grand Soul Gems (which, of course, are not obvious without picking them up or using a mod) in the Mages' Guild, which may be the source of the confusion. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 19:55, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
PS3 Oblivion GoTY Bug -- weird fix
Okay so I just hit the 'Bloodgrass Bug', and due to sheer boredom I decided I might just try to play around with the language options... so I changed the language to 'French' in the PS3 Menu, reloaded and - lo and behold - mellisande took the bloodgrass!
Just figured I'd share this tidbit.. strange solution alright, but hey, as long as it worked...--84.161.65.95 20:19, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
- I just tried it and it didn't work. You sure you didn't have the org. in the disk reader? 77BeTa77 20:55, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
-
- yeah, pretty sure because i don't have an original disk. then again, this is the european version of the game, maybe yours is the US version ;). on a sidenote, this really f***ed up my shivering isles quests.... darn — Unsigned comment by 84.161.65.95 (talk)
-
-
- That explains it. We need someone else with the european version to try it out to confirm it. 77BeTa77 21:36, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
-
- I also have the European version, and just tried with the language set to German and it works fine ... she takes the blood grass. I haven't entered the shivering isles yet though, so I shouldn't have any issues with that. It saves going out and getting hold of a non GotY edition! Bonsai nine 19:08, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
- Additionally ... I tried an eastern language - one with non-roman characters - resulting in the game still being in english. The bug returned. I guess the copy of the game has to support the language you select to get it out of English and bypass the bugged code. Perhaps someone with the US edition could try other languages to see if any are supported and if they fix the issue also. Bonsai nine 19:13, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
-
- I just tried this with French, Spanish, German and some sort of asian language and it doesn't work. Only the PS3 options change language, and the bloograss line stays gray. - M

-
- I am Italian, therefore i play the Italian version of the game. I didn't experience any bug, everything worked fine for me. — Unsigned comment by 81.208.74.189 (talk) on 1 July 2008

VERY STRANGE things can happen if you change system languages and load a save. Items will be changed and you can lose some spells. Am currently performing some tests to see if this can be alleviated or avoided in any way. European game version GOTY.87.198.21.191 11:07, 28 July 2008 (EDT)
Non-cure for Vampirism
Can someone else please confirm if they get this behaviour: When doing this quest as a vampire, during your 24-hour wait after curing the count's wife, I drank my own Cure for Vampirism potion. My face reverted and the Count identified me as having been cured, but all other effects of vampirism remained, though at reduced levels. If I instead waited until the 24-hour period was over and the quest was complete, the Cure potion worked normally. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 02:29, 30 June 2008 (EDT)
- I don't know if this was the same thing that happened to me last time, but this time around, when the vampirism was removed during the quest (in this case, via the Deepscorn method, which may have confused things), all effects were removed except that Vampirism stayed as an active disease and my face didn't change back. However, it turned out that the disease was now normal and easily removed with a Cure Disease! This reverted my face as well. All in all, I'd say there are more than a few bugs with Vampirism...I don't think I've had everything about it ever work normally! --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 04:29, 27 February 2009 (EST)
Count Disappearing
It is possible for the count to follow you after he tells you how to get the cure. He will occasionally appear on other quests, even ones taking place in the realm of oblivion. When you come to bringing the cure to him he dissapears. Hal-Liurz will say 'Please, follow me' and will not be able to find him. I have found no way of fixing this glitch and I have a feeling that the count is trapped in Oblivion as I could not fin him in the Skingrad Castle Hall. — Unsigned comment by 86.131.224.21 (talk)
Bug?
- There is an extremely rare glitch where upon giving the cure to the count, Melisande fails to act. This glitch complies with her character not responding and can be fixed by BEFORE giving the cure to the count, attacking Melisande and going to jail, somehow restoring movement. You will know if this worked by her healing herself upon entering the cavern (presuming you attacked her). If this glitch occurs you cannot exploit the Glitch for Infinite Money, or Complete the vampire cure Quest, As neither Melisande or the count will talk to you. (console may work for this, but it has only been tested on Xbox360) — Unsigned comment by Apocalypse96 (talk • contribs) at 20:02 on September 4, 2008
- I moved the above "bug" from the main article because it's so poorly written that I cannot understand whether the glitch is supposed to be Melisande being frozen, not waking the countess, or not responding when trying to speak to her. I also cannot understand what the editor is suggesting as a fix. Still, I've not been able to recreate anything similar on PC or Xbox. The editor even stated that it's "extremely rare". --GuildKnightTalk2me 23:00, 4 September 2008 (EDT)
I got this bug and I dont know what to do! I do not have any previous saves and I just continued with the game, now I want to continue in the mages guild but I can not because I have to finish the vampire cure before finishing ulterior motives quest, anyone have a solution?— Unsigned comment by 166.203.96.96 (talk) on 24 December 2009
Anon editor's latest edit
An anonymous editor just removed the line "However, given that the only way to obtain this quest is to first become a vampire; as such, this option is currently inaccessible (without using the console)." with the edit summary, "You can get this quest from "Ulterior Motives"; removing false line". I am hesitant to revert it because I want so badly for this to be true, but I tried many things to get this quest from anyone from the Mages Guild. When I get back around to that part of the game, I'll check it again, but if anyone can test it in the meantime, please verify or disprove this. --GuildKnightTalk2me 02:51, 14 September 2008 (EDT)
you have it already!!!!!!
ok, i am doing the vampire cure quest on 360, did everything she asked, killed the vampire, got the blood from the argonian, went to give them to the woman, she took the vampire dust and the knife with the blood on off me but she still says that i need to give her all the things that she asked for. in the quest journal it still says that i need to give her the knife with the blood on, but she has already taken it =( i have no previous saves...
Vampire Reward Spell

Reprecussions of 'German Workaround'
The 'German Workaround' does have SI related side-effects. For a little while it acts as if SI doesn't exist. However, it is much less dangerous than the other workaround. Once I've unlocked the final Thieves Guild Merchants (nearly there) I will play through the Isles. It seems to have reset but there aren't that many bad errors.
I shall continue my research. In fact, some of the side-effects seem to be advantageous!
However, it does have its risks, so I shall play through SI soon. From the look of it though, I'll have to use a safe container to avoid exiting the isles. I will disclose more information once I have done more research. In light of this, I will join the site. My username shall be Mental_Gear (depending on whether or not underscores are accepted here)
- The workaround does have severe impacts on the SI questline. The resetting of the questline makes it unplayable beyond the quest "A better mousetrap". Full details http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=887233&hl= Rhomphaia 23:33, 5 December 2008 (EST)

She's stuck in the dang basement.
I gave her all the stuff, gave her the order to make the cure at 12pm, came back 24 hours later, where'd she go? She's not anywhere and the basement is locked. What the heck? Also, in the Quests list, the latest entry is "Melisande's dagger is covered in Argonian blood. I should deliver it to her so that she can brew the potion." Umm, does anyone know her hours...?69.148.244.97 02:04, 23 December 2008 (EST)
- See the bugs section of the article. If you are on PC, you can use the console commands, but otherwise the only general fix is to load an earlier game. Also, be careful about giving her the ingredients at around midnight. Vesna 12:03, 25 December 2008 (EST)
I know this is documented as being fixed in UOP 1.4.0, but I think it's broken again in 3.2.0, and there's no re-fix documented up to 3.2.4. Any way I try it, I can never get her to talk to the count, and the count just says please go. First try, she was stuck in the basement. 2nd try (reloaded from the point I obtained the cure, and waited a couple days before talking to her so she wouldn't follow him down there), she got stuck on the balcony of the county hall. I wonder if there's a way to force this ahead from the console, because I can't even get the suggested fixes to work, as though the UOP broke the quest even further. (got command humanoid method to work, though the others didn't) 97.94.237.18 05:58, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Vampire Cure Permanent?
So I got turned into a vampire early on in my game....played it for a while, got sick of it, got the cure, and now i seem to be immune to the Porphric Hemophilia disease....everytime i catch it, it never turns into Vampirism, no matter how many days i sleep while infected....it just slightly lowers my fatigue. Is this normal?
- As is stated on this article (and many others): "Once cured, you cannot become a vampire again (except using the console). Porphyric Hemophilia becomes just another disease." --GuildKnightTalk2me 22:36, 27 December 2008 (EST)
now my whole ps3 system is ruined...or just oblivion....either way its ruined..
i used the change language method and picked deutsch as i understand a little deutsch. now when i change back some of it is still deustch..the first word i figured out is deutsch is asking about rumours is now geriichte..any ideas to fix this? before something quest speceific comes up in deutsch and i pick the wrong choice?
Final reward
The main article says:
Given that the only way to obtain this quest is to first become a vampire, this option is currently inaccessible (without using the console), but if you were to complete this quest without ever having been a vampire, Janus Hassildor would offer you a choice for the final reward: "I can offer you money, of course, but given my condition, I am in a position to offer you something relatively unique. If you wish, you can become a vampire. It will be slightly painful, but far easier on you than... other methods. Which would you prefer?" If you then chose the topic "Make me a vampire", he would continue: "This is not a gift to be taken lightly. It may cause you harm in the long run, but at least you already know a way to rid yourself of it. Once you have the disease for several days, rest and let the effects take hold. And please, be careful. Good luck." Finally, he would cast the "Vampire Reward Spell", which would infect you with Porphyric Hemophilia.
But couldn't you just obtain the potion, NOT take it, and then go to the count to finish the quest? You would still be a vampire then, so maybe he'd offer you the choice to become one. B.A.L. 19:01, 26 April 2009 (EDT)
- I think you've misunderstood there. If you're still a vampire, what's the point of being infected with Porphyric Hemophilia? –Rpeh•T•C•E• 00:54, 27 April 2009 (EDT)

Melisande's Revival Bug
I ran into a little bug while doing this quest. At the end of the quest, when you are in the Chamber of the Lost with Melisanda, the countess and the count, Melisanda will revive the countess. However, I was standing exactly in the spot where Melisande revives the countess. I was surprised to see her revival spell was cast onto me instead of onto the countess, thus leaving the countess dead and stopping the quest dead in it's tracks. I don't know if anyone discovered this bug before, but I think it should be mentioned on the page since it can be quite dangerous of you haven't got a decent (quick)save ready. I'm stuck on a autosave where i'm outside in the day as a vampire, so when i try to load the game, it wont load..I'm guessing that's because i'm dying while its loading, and my last save was about 5lvls under the one i am actually at... is there a way i can reload whitout dying or without making it stop loading...? — Unsigned comment by 74.13.185.67 (talk) at 02:26 on 14 August 2009
- It's probably just a bit late now, but the only easy way is to just go to a previous save. If you don't have one that's suitable and you're on the PC, you might be able to find a trainer of some kind to edit your save game file, though I'm not specifically aware of any. —Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 03:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Vampire Cure Glitch
I'm not sure if you've ever come across this before, I haven't been able to find any mention of it at all, but I discovered associated with Deepscorn Hollow and the 'Vampire Cure' quest.
I made my way all the way through the Vampire Cure quest, received my reward from Count Hassildor, and was going to cure myself, however, I decided to cure myself using the Font of Renewal at Deepscorn Hollow rather than using the potion, that way I could keep the unique item. When I did this, though, my character's vampirism was cured but his appearance was drastically different from how I initially created him. His mouth was wider, his complexion was darker, and he appeared older. I tried everything I could think of to fix the problem: taking the Cure for Vampirism potion, taking a regular cure disease potion, going to get healed at a chapel, sleeping, etc. The only thing that fixed it was reloading a game before I cured myself with the Font of Renewal and drinking the potion instead.
Have you ever seen this problem before or am I the first to discover it? — Unsigned comment by 144.17.77.3 (talk) at 07:42 on 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Hal-liurz
I completed the vampire cure quest and i wanted to buy the house in skingrad (i am aware you buy it from Shum gro-Yarug now.). When i talk to the Hal she says "Please wait in the hall, The Count will be with you shortly.". I did have the problem where she gets trapped the chamber thing and hit her to get her to move; I also hit the count to bring him to her. Is there any fix for this?
PLEASE HELP WITH COUNT GLITCH
i cured myself as a vampire by taking the potion myself because thelady never took me to the count and i searched for him all through the castle. so i took it and moved on later on when i was doing the mages guild quests. and i came to a quest where i had to talk to the same count. it was in information at a price. and the lady told me to wait there for the count. and he still never cane! i waited for 4 days!!! help? im playin it on the xbox 360. any heelp??
i have the ps3 goty version i had the same probolem it took the piss when she is in the chamber hit her with your fist so she runs away, she should run outside after wich you will be caught pay the fine, find her again hit her once ten she will run to the barracks get caught again pay the fine. now save this time she should wander now on her own if she is still stuck load where you saved then wait a couple of days and she should return to the hall finally this worked for me i had to do this several times before it actually worked tho :)
Complete Walkthrough for Cure for Vampirism (Including How to get past those glitches everyone complains about)
Upon experimenting with different methods, I have found solutions to all the glitches found in this particular quest. As we all know, the quest is started after becoming a vampire, then talking to Raminus Polus about a "Cure for Vampirism". After the conversation is over, he will have instructed you to pay a visit to Janus Hassildor (the count of skingrad). First, speak with the argonian and ask to see him, she will ask if you have an appointment, then just tell her you are in need of the vampirism cure. She will leave to get the count, after she starts to leave, use the wait command and wait for just one hour, then once you seen the arrow on your compass turn green again, wait for twenty-four hours. The count should disturb your wait and then he will give you the required info for the vampirism cure. Now you need to go talk to the witch (her location is marked on your map), when you arrive, enter the cabin and talk to her, once the conversation is over about the cure, she will ask you to give her five grand soul gems that have not been filled, after giving them to her, now she will give you a list of ingredients she needs for the cure. Now this is the tricky part, because i have found that if you do not give them to her in order, it causes the game to glitch, and she will stay in the basement after you give her the ingredients. So when you give the ingredients to her, it is vital you give them to her in this exact order, 1.bloodgrass, 2.garlic, 3.nightshade, 4.dagger covered in argonian blood, 5.hildar's ashes. Now that you have given her the ingredients correctly, you must now wait, you must find a location nearby to wait, because if you try in her cabin, it is trespassing, and if you stick around for too long, she will start to fight you. The easiest locations to get to is 1.a cave just south of the cabin and 2.a mine located directly above her home to the east. Wait inside there for twenty-four hours, then come back and go in the cabin again, you should see her walking around, talk to her and she will have the potions. Now before you continue, drink your potion so you dont die going to skingrad, then continue. Arriving at skingrad, you must enter the castle to speak with his argonian maid once more, she will tell you to follow her and she takes you to a hidden door concealed behind a fake wall, once the wall lowers, enter to find a door, go through this door and all the way down into a small cave. On your left you will see the witch from before, and on the right, janus hassildor. Speak to the count and give him the potion, after that, he will instruct you to stay and be quiet, then the witch casts her spell and brings the countess back to life, she drinks the potion, etc (dont worry that little cutscene is not all that important). After a couple seconds she will die, speak to the count again and he will say he needs a moment to grieve and asks for you to come back tomorrow, then he stands up and says please leave. Here is the second glitch I came across, if u just leave and wait, he disappears and is never seen again, so it took me awhile to find a method, but i found the best one. first, wait twenty-four hours inside the cave with the count, dont worry when you wake up he is still there, and saying the same thing, please go. Now go out of the cave and back into castle skingrad to speak with the argonian once more, she will say "I shall inform the count you have arrived, please wait here for him". Disregard everything she just said, and run back to the cave before she gets there, if you go all the way back down, the count is still in there, but he is starting to leave. This part takes either good reflex, or you can use the paintbrush glitch to make a line he cant get passed, because you must try your best to hold him in there no matter what, after 15 or 20 seconds, give or take, the compass arrow will become green again, meaning the argonian is in the cave, and somehow she informs him as soon as she gets in, but after the arrow turns green, speak to the count and claim your reward, and by the way if you keep clicking on reward over and over, it keeps giving you money no matter what, even when the quest is over, but besides that, you have now completed the cure for vampirism quest! — Unsigned comment by 173.95.129.86 (talk) at 22:42 on 14 March 2010
Melisande in the Basement
- (moved from the article)
There is a rare issue where Melisande goes into her basement, (even before having given her all the ingredients) which can only be entered with a key, and she never comes out. This may happen if you give her some but not all of the ingredients required at once and in other circumstances. There appears to be no solution to this bug.
blood grass
ok i got ps3 version of oblivion i can't give her the blood grass from the oblivion gate so i bought the 1 blood grass from the main ingredient in the imperil city do u no were i can find more of buy more at i looked at the map on here were it will tell u were the blood grass is i try some spots and i keep not finding it plezz help.
