Shadowkey ModdingEdit
Hello, I have seen you are basically the only person that ever modded shadowkey, I wanted to ask you about how did you went around it? I am interested in editing textures of the game but I am kinda lost about where to look for this stuff, I have tried a couple programs that I found for ngage modding but cant find exactly what I am looking for or where I should start so I thought it would be best to ask you even if you could only tell me something basic it would be great help.
My main doubt would be how I could see the weapon textures mostly, sorry for the bother, thanks for your time and I hope you can read this
- Yo Hey, yeah I made some mods. I really just did tinkering with the source files (which aren't encrypted). It's pretty easy to swap models and stuff like that by swapping certain variables in the text files.
- This site has all the models on it: https://fire-head.github.io/testshadowkeyviewer/index.html
- This site has all the maps on it: https://fire-head.github.io/TESTShadowkeyMapViewer/index.htmlTheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 02:06, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

- Ohh thanks that is a really cool page I didnt knew this game had so much attention. What do you think about editing sprites? you know for weapons and stuff, that is what I am more insterested because I have the idea of seeing if its possible to add alternative sprites (like a pallete swap) --190.139.0.36 04:20, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

- Dunno really, I just manipulated the game scripts. Altering textures can probably be done. I'd check the game files and filetypes for common texture formats and play with it. Or reach out to that "fire-head" guy since he decoded the texture formats. - TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 04:40, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Source of the full Yoshitaka Tamaki artwork for the canceled Saturn/PSX ports of ArenaEdit
Hello. I noticed you uploaded the full, uncovered version of Yoshitaka Tamaki's art that was created for the canceled ports of Arena, and I was hoping you could tell me where you sourced it from. I've been researching the development history of the Shining series so I came across the Sega Saturn Magazine and The PlayStation articles on Arena, but they didn't publish a version of the art that wasn't cropped or covered by text. It would be a great help for my research and for the Shining community if you could let me know where you found that. Thanks! Wizzardesse (talk) 00:13, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Wizzard! Sorry to say, I altered that image using the spot healing brush in photoshop so the wiki can have a clean version of the image. In retrospect, I should have mentioned that. A note has been added to the image description explaining this. Cheers. -TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 04:30, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Copyright InfringementEdit
Please don't upload content owned by other websites/organizations. It is a massive copyright infringement issue that opens the wiki up to legal action from organizations that have proven to be extremely litigious in the past. Jeancey (talk) 22:18, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- You're completely correct, sorry to all. I had thought that if archive.org can archive things it'd be fine for other sites to do so as well, if it's just for archival purposes. And I was so "archive-brained" that I didn't even think about copyright. Will not happen again. TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 22:25, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

- Again, we cannot use stuff without permission, even when other things from the same source are already being used. Case in point, General:Pocket_Guide_to_the_Empire,_Second_Edition/Conceptualization is just straight up plagiarism from the Imperial Library. Please look at the Copyright_and_Ownership page to ensure that you do not plagiarize again. While I understand that this was a mistake on your part, it is one that has happened multiple times and creates very serious risks for us.

- That PGE2 page was made before this topic was brought here. As you recall, I also reached out to you personally to have these infringements removed completely when the issue was brought up, I really really do not want to create problems for the site. During that time, I was archiving things willy nilly, I was not thinking about it hyper seriously. I was tossing in some extra context for a video games wiki to aid keyword searches -- I was thinking from a user perspective rather than an administrative legal one, which yes Jeancey, was editorially irresponsible and societally short sighted. To be crystal clear: I am sorry, and I comprehend why this is an outstanding issue, and I want to help clear up these issues. Which is why I reached out to you via direct message before. Hopefully we both understand what we need to understand here, and hey thanks for those helpful links! I'll have them memorized and tattooed on to the appropriate bodily locations.

- I overlooked this specific case with the PGE2 notes when scanning for infringing articles. This isn't meant as justification, I very much just passed by this issue -- I have a relationship with the folks at TIL, and they don't usually mind sharing between sites. I'm very sorry to any of the affected librarians at TIL if my borrowing excerpts from there without reaching out was seen as infringing or sleightful in any way. Please feel free to reach out, and I'll do whatever I can to make amends! Best, -TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 04:15, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

- I do apologize, you weren't the one that added the offending content, and I was under the mistaken impression that the entire page was written by TIL, not just the top part. While the note about the TIL citation template stands, I think I was too harsh in my words. I think in the future anything currently being hosted by TIL and not us should stay on TIL, and we can simply cite them. This goes for anything found elsewhere that they have already archived. If TIL is in danger of disappearing from the web, we will definitely hear about it, and can archive things at that point, but until that point, stuff on TIL should stay on TIL.
- Again, I am sorry about the misunderstanding, and I do know that it isn't out of malice or anything. Jeancey (talk) 04:20, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

File SourceEdit
Hi there! Do you remember where this image came from? It's ideal to include sources for every image we upload that isn't user generated (NPC screenshots, etc), especially if they're from the web. It's a fantastic find: we just need to credit a source for it. -MolagBallet (talk) 21:05, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry didn't even think about it, at some point I should start #thinking -- that'd be good; here's the "link" fam: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/5XRaXO. TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 22:17, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
