The Converted Checkpoint Apartments is a former Imperial Legion guard station in the Waterfront Tunnel that was converted to low-rent housing. It is located just inside the gate to the Temple District.

The private apartments.

The Apartment complex has two floors - a ground floor and a basement. The upper floor consists of a large ready room/gathering room for the guards, which has been repurposed as a common room for those unable to afford an apartment of their own, and four small apartments. The common room has six beds (with a chest for each), a dining table, and a cupboard for food and drinks; C'Jilla, Bassanio, Lurco Dibbler, Tells-Tall-Tales, and Simon live here. A hallway toward the back provides access to the apartments, all but one of which are single-occupancy. It has various decorative touches to make it more homey, like rugs on the floor, tapestries on the walls, and benches for people to sit. A door at the end leads down to the basement. Lys Koch and his apprentice Orvil share the first one; Sarah Beluel lives in the second, and Capito the Preacher occupies the third. The last apartment, the former captain's quarters, is twice the size of the others and is occupied by a married couple, Antonio and Aayisha.

The basement level has three more apartments, which are the same size as the ones above. The middle one has a secret access to a series of caves under the Tunnel where the Aviogetto Gang makes its lair (and is occupied by a member of the gang, Carletta Aviogetto). These are low-rent apartments; unlike the upper level, there are no extra decorations here beyond a single table in the hallway. Vorn gro-Zorgar rents the first apartment; the one at the end of the hall is currently unoccupied.
