Shalks are aggressive giant beetles native to Morrowind. They attack with fire and can move through lava unharmed.

- Fire Spew
- The shalk inhales air before spewing a spray of fire back out of its mouth, indicated by a thin conal AoE, dealing continuous moderage flame damage.

- Although described as a type of shalk, the dire ash beetle Ash-Eater has the appearance of an assassin beetle.
