Back at the start of November you added details to Agna that included the fact that she carries a note. This same information was added to the note page by Bwross way back in Jan 2012. Ebony Mail bugEdit

Hi, you added that the Ebony Mail was fixed with patch 1.9. Do we have any indications about that beside that the bug doesn't exist anymore? Because I think that the bug actually never existed at all - the note was added by an anon way back in 2012, apparently without further verification. I don't have any personal knowledge of this, I just copied what was already on the page and put it into bug form, assuming it was true. The patch noted for version 1.9 do include the fix Fixed issues with Matching Set perk not working properly with certain pieces of armor, but neglect to say which pieces of armor. However, the cslist entry for the Ebony Mail doesn't show any changes, so I would concur that the bug probably never existed in the first place. --AN|L (talk) 16:17, 21 January 2014 (GMT)

al-[birth city name]Edit

I'm pretty sure this is how Redguards (most Crowns, at the very least), formulate their surnames. Besides Al-Skaven, the author of this note is "al-Hegathe". There are probably more examples out there. It may just be where their family is from, though, not necessarily their birth city. But keep an eye out! Looks like this is something that's being introduced in ESO. al-Skaven is the only use of that formulation on our Names page, and the only one I can find in any previous game, but there are four in the ESO books we have so far (al-Gilane, al-Ash'abah, al-Rihad, and al-Tigonus). Those named all do seem to be Redguards, and correspond to cities/locations in Hammerfell. -- Hargrimm(T) 20:44, 29 March 2014 (GMT)
It would be consistent with the way that some real life Arabs (fairly similar to Redguards) formulate their names. Arab naming conventions are quite complex (they can have around five names), but many of them have an al-(city or country) name that indicated where the family traces its lineage back to. The TVtropes article you mentioned has nothing to do with Giants or Dragons in Skyrim, or even with the game itself, it is simply a comment on something that happens on television. TV tropes is one of those sites you don't take at face value, any claims they make are not required to have any citations or backing by their own rules, so stupid claims like this shouldn't even be taken as half-truths (though in all likelihood, there's a mod for that). Harmony RevertEdit

It was always my impression and experience that any spell or shout that affects and enemy could be used to kill bugs and birds and knock down pots, even if it doesn't do damage. True, though little else has the kind of range that Harmony does, I think. I'm not aware of ever having killed a bird with anything else I've tried, cuz they're usually too high up. Hah, I had the same problem for a while. The way I solved it was putting {{NewLine}} tags at the end of every group of userboxes I wanted to be on the same line. So first line: userbox, usebox, userbox, newline, and then repeat. --AN|L (talk) 15:49, 29 May 2014 (GMT)
Another option is to put them in a table. It has the advantage of being a bit more flexible, but the disadvantage of also being more complex. Bed rollsEdit

Can I ask why you've started changing bed rolls to bedrolls seeing as I've had them in the past changed from bedrolls to bed rolls, which is how it is shown in the game and the reason I now show it correctly as per the game. Cheers. Biffa (talk) 11:42, 6 June 2014 (GMT)

Hunt and Gather note undoEdit

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. I noticed I was unable to enter the Fellstar Farm without picking the lock during the "Hunt and Gather" quest. I then deiced to leave it for later. I started the "The Book of Love" quest, and at the point when you tell either male that is interested in Fastred what to do, they run off to Fastred. At that point, you can enter the farm house without issue. Allowing you to enter without issue and pick up the spoon. This is what I did. That is why I made the note, so others would be aware of another alternative.

Also, it is pointless to undo someones edit unless you have proof the person is wrong. On top of that, why would I have taken the time to post this minor detail unless I had done the task. What would be in it for me? I even post anonymously as I don't care about how many "edits" I have, but how correct the information is.

I find this kind of wiki nannyism not only off putting, discouraging, but pointlessly rude and self promoting for the person that does the undoing. You fail to understand that taking the time to correct the comment is way more helpfull and encouraging for others than simply hitting undo. It is self-righteous timewasters like you that piss people off to the point that you will have no one new that is willing to help edit what should be a community, not a dicitorship.

So, if you don't mind, put the comment back, make a correction or check it out for yourself. Do not simply hit undo. Your attitude is entirely unwelcome. Anil has shown time and again that he can accept when he has made a mistake. Neither your edit or your summary for that edit made it clear how the quest made entering the farm easier. All you had to do was post the first paragraph as explanation and leave it, you did not have to go and break every wiki-etiquette rule on personal attacks that were ever written. Editors are not expected to check each edit's factual correctness before editing either, nor should they take responsibility for someone else's claim by trying to guess the reason for an edit. As to the conditions under which it's possible, I took a look in the CK and I see nothing that would specifically allow either of the lovers to enter her house, but there may be engine-level coding that allow people to enter specific destinations in order to avoid the locked-door scenarios that plagued Oblivion. The notability of the note is what concerns me here, though. If Fastred is always in her farm, then that's a great note to add, since it's a guaranteed free way in. If she's only there to sleep, though, then I see the note as less important—possibly unnotable—because the free way in is now time-dependent as well as dependent on another quest. It's been my experience in Ivarstead that Fastred is outside on the farm with her parents during the day. Also, unless Fellstar Farm is an exception to this, houses in Skyrim are unlocked during the day. "Necro" is just a shorthand way of writing "necropost", which basically means that you were contributing to a discussion that had already been closed. We typically revert such posts because there's almost never anything to be gained from reviving a discussion that everyone else has forgotten about. The discussion in question will be exactly 3 years old tomorrow, and neither of the participants in that discussion are still active on the wiki. Your post basically provided an explanation for what might have caused a personal anecdote that wasn't even included in the article, so there wasn't really any need to continue the discussion, which is why Anil reverted your edit. It would be good etiquette at any rate to notify the contributor of a pending deletion. Yes, necroposts are often viewed as being unproductive and irrelevant, which is in many cases a shame as they often shed new light or introduce a new angle to the argument. I have contributed necro style to many discussions here. The effluxion of time is not necessarily detrimental to appreciation of the points put forward of a discussion thread. The version of Oblivion is the same now as it was then. The spawning pattern and behavior of this particular dungeon is different to most encountered so I guess the other option is to attempt to modify the actual article itself rather than initiate a separate thread.--Lmstearn (talk) 14:39, 8 June 2014 (GMT)

(edit conflict) Editors aren't required to inform other editors before undoing an edit because nothing would ever get done if we had to argue over every single change. As long as you have a good reason for undoing an edit and you explain it in the edit summary (which Anil did), you're following the proper etiquette procedures. You are correct that if an issue is particularly pressing and hasn't been answered, it is acceptable to revive a discussion on rare occasions, but I don't really feel this was one of those cases. You can add that information to the article yourself if you can confirm that it occurs, but there's not really any need to add anything to the talk page about it. Hope this helps! About Flora and Fauna in the holdsEdit

I saw that you deleted information about flora found in specific locations in the holds articles. I just want to explain why I put it there. I tried to be general about the flora in the hold like for lavender and tundra cotton in Whiterun because they are not bound to a specific location. But when some flora had a location in Whiterun that was noted on their individual page for being very rich, I tried to mention it. An example is blue mountain flower that is very abundant around sleeping tree camp and purple mountain flower which is very abundant around Rorikstead. The same goes of course for the other articles. Another example is Chillwind in Hjaalmarch which is known to be extremely rich in all sort of Flora, shouldn't it be mentioned in the flora section for the hold then? The hold articles are meant to be a very general overview of the hold, not a definitive accounting of everything in the hold, so talking about what can be found at specific locations shouldn't be on that page. Where would that kind of information be relevant because I feel it's missing? Major concentrations are noted on the ingredient pages, where it is far more relevant. Ingredients generally only located in one hold may be notable as an aside in a longer paragraph (tundra cotton in Whiterun, creep cluster in Eastmarch), but not alone. Yes I know they are listed there, that was one of my main sources of information. The reason I wanted to add the information in one place is that it's hard to browse ingredients after area, in practice you have to check every ingredient separately. I totally understand if the hold pages are meant to be fork pages and need to be kept general but I'll ask again, if I wrote a more detailed page about the general geography of a hold and which flora and fauna to be found there, would it be deleted? A page describing what flora and fauna is found can be found in a hold, and where in particular, has, in my opinion, very little use. We do have policies on redundancy, and this would fall foul of it because it repeats information in a limited scale that can be found in more useful pages such as the ingredient page or an individual place page. It's alright to say (for example) that tundra cotton can be found in the northern parts of Whiterun Hold, but it isn't to start listing the exact amounts around each location; the mere mention of its commonality is enough to say that if you are looking for it then look here. Last post, two questions. 1, Is talk pages the right place to have this kind of discussions? 2, If I interpret the last post right, it would be ok to write: "Flora A, B and C is native and can be found throughout the hold. Flora D and E can be found in large quantities ("enough to be noted on the page for D and E") at specific locations (see page for D and E for more info). Dungeon F and G are known to be rich in ingredients." This is just a few lines but I really think they would be helpful. My intention were never to list every location with the exact amount but just to mention those ingredients and locations that really stands out. As to your second question, the first sentence would be alright to describe the general qualities of the hold, but the other parts should not be added to the page. The goal of this page is to just describe the hold as a whole and what you might generally expect. Stony Creek CaveEdit

Thank you for verifying Stony Creek Cave. I must've wandered around trying to verify it myself for about 10 minutes and couldn't find the freakin' Iron Ore vein anywhere. Then I got sidetracked and when I went back, you'd already fixed it. Sure enough, this time when I re-loaded Skyrim, there was the Iron Ore vein right there where it should've been. And on the topic of your sandboxes, I just made a minor change to both Sandbox Aleph and the Mod Header template that it calls. Easter EggsEdit

Hey, Anil! The reason I deleted that comment was because the discussion originated (and was resolved) in March. Another anon revived it 3 months afterward with a proposal that probably should have been listed under a separate heading, but was still relevant enough for me to leave it at the time. It has now been another 3 months since that last comment, so I really don't think it's appropriate to keep making comments on a discussion that's over half a year old. If we're going to revive the discussion, it should really be under a separate heading.

Also, when it comes to judging eggs for inclusion, I think failure to reach consensus is a type of resolution in and of itself, since the default position is not to allow anything on the page without consensus for inclusion anyway. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 17:17, 8 October 2014 (GMT)

Falmer ShamanEdit

I made the effort to upload pics of the concerning falmer shaman on photobucket but thanks to the security query for posting external links not quite working I'm forced to send them to you via email. Moving on... Since it was presented as a likely assumption and not fact and our friendly competitor site "The elder scrolls wiki" comes to the same conclusion in their Feral Falmer article I see no reason for deletion. I'm perfectly content with rephrasing, but even without 'guesswork' it comes down to the fact that falmer don't possess wings, yet pure-blooded vampires do (if vampire lords are suitable as any indication) and those falmer were all infected by Vyrthur which makes vampirism the common denominator. I would suggest to move the article addition to some (frozen) falmer lore article but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere and it would be a shame to just lose it altogether because of this. I apologize if I was unclear in my edit summary. I didn't revert your edit because I couldn't find any pictures to substantiate whether or not they have wings on their backs (I've looked at the pictures you sent me, and I can see now that they do have wings), I reverted it because it is speculation to assume the wings are related to the wings on a vampire lord. The wings of gargoyles also look similar to the wings of vampire lords, but that doesn't mean the two are related either. From a lore perspective, there's no possible relationship either, since only those infected by a Child of Coldharbor can become vampire lords, and Vyrthur wasn't. The fact that Frozen Falmer have vestigial wings can certainly be added to the article though --AN|L (talk) 20:08, 10 October 2014 (GMT)

No need for apologies; I know you didn't mean to offend and neither was it my intention! I just thought it would be quite bizarre to simply state the unusual modification in the falmer appearance in the respective falmer page without any possible explanation whatsoever. as for vyrthur: whence the dovahkiin is turned by harkon he is described as being "of mixed blood" bei valerica and consequently his appearance in vampire lord form lacks most of the elaborate ornamentation of harkons form; if the potency loss between the vampire generations is that drastic, vyrthur's children could be a degenerated version of the vampire lords if his sire was already past third generation. But I do agree that this is highly speculative - still, I think it wouldn't be unreasonable to note in the falmer article or wherever the final change will be implemented that the shaman's unusual appearance might be in conjunction with their vampirism since no other explanation was given either and that's the only uncommon definite alteration to their physiology we know of.
