The Champion System in the Elder Scrolls Online is a system of horizontal character development that complements the more vertical progression of Leveling and Skill development. The Champion System is unlocked when one of your characters reaches Veteran rank at Level 50. From that point on, experience points provide progression in Champion Points. Champion Points are required to wear Level 50 gear and use Level 50 consumables, and are used to unlock new abilities within the realms of the three Guardian Constellations. Additionally, once a particular rank is reached in each constellation, additional passives are unlocked without needing to spend extra points. Once a Champion Point has been earned, it is added to your account total, and can be spent on all of your characters individually; even those who have not yet reached Level 50. There is a maximum of 3,600 points to unlock.

Champion Points are earned in the following order:

  • ON-icon-Champion Health.png The Warrior: A constellation devoted to health and defense.
  • ON-icon-Champion Stamina.png The Thief: A constellation devoted to stamina and utility.
  • ON-icon-Champion Magicka.png The Mage: A constellation devoted to magic and offense.

The XP required for Champion Point gain is based on the following formula:

x is your current number of Champion Points.
The current cap is 810, and you are unable to spend any points that you have earned above this cap. This means you are able to spend 270 points in each of the three constellations.

EnlightenmentEdit

While you are Enlightened, experience gain is multiplied by four, effectively reducing the required XP for one Champion Point to a quarter of its original value. Once per day, you receive 400,000 XP of Enlightenment; after your Enlightenment is used up, you will return to requiring the standard amount of XP to earn a Champion Point. Enlightenment accumulates in a pool with a cap of 4,800,000 XP after twelve days. Each single experience point earned through normal gameplay expends four of the stored points in the Enlightenment pool; killing an enemy usually worth 76 XP will give you 304 XP, while completing a standard Level 50 quest will reward you with 29940 XP instead of 7485 XP.

Note that only Level 50 characters can be Enlightened, and the Enlightenment pool is shared across all Level 50 characters on your account.

PerksEdit

When you spend points in any of the four abilities in a given constellation, you will receive special perks at given thresholds of 10, 30, 75, and 120 points spent. At each perk level, you will still keep all of the lower-level perks. With a total of 270 points that can be spent within each of the 3 sets of constellations, it is now possible to get the 120 point perk in two constellations of the same type, and the 30 point perk in the third, or the 120 point perk in one and the 75 point perks in the other two. The table below lists the best distribution of points to maximize the number or level of perks you receive. (The Champion Level column lists the level at which you can have this distribution in all three disciplines. Subtract 1 level for The Thief or 2 for The Warrior, as these are available slightly earlier based on the order that points are awarded.)

The WarriorEdit

The SteedEdit

Under the Warrior's influence, the Steed boosts your Health and shields you from damage.

Champion Abilities Effect
  Ironclad Reduces the damage you take from direct damage attacks by [0-25]%.
  Medium Armor Focus Increases your Physical Resistance by [0-5280] while wearing 5 or more pieces of Medium Armor.
  Resistant Increase your Critical Resistance by [0-1650]. Only relevant in PvP.
  Spell Shield Increases Spell Resistance by [0-5280].
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Invigorating Bash 10 Gives you a 20% chance to restore [x] health when you bash an enemy.
  Phase 30 After using Roll Dodge, your Physical and Spell Resistance is increased by [x] for 3 seconds.
  Resilient 75 Restores [x] Health when you take Critical Damage. Only relevant in PvP.
  Reinforced 120 When activating block gain a damage shield for [x] every 10 seconds.


The LadyEdit

Under the Warrior's influence, the Lady gives you Health and protects you from Negative Effects.

  Elemental Defender Reduces Flame, Frost, Shock, and Magic Damage dealt to you by [0-15]%.
  Hardy Reduces Poison, Disease, and Physical Damage dealt to you by [0-15]%.
  Light Armor Focus Increases your Physical Resistance by [0-5280] while wearing 5 or more pieces of Light Armor.
  Thick Skinned Reduces the damage you take from damage over time effects by [0-25]%.
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Spell Absorption 10 Restores [x] Magicka when you take Flame, Frost, Shock, Magic, Earth, or Oblivion Damage equivalent to 30% of your Maximum Health. This can only occur once every 10 seconds.
  Bulwark 30 Increases your Spell and Physical Resistance by 1500 when you are using a Shield or a Frost Staff.
  Critical Leech 75 Restore [x] Health when you deal direct Critical Damage. This can only occur once every 5 seconds.
  Unchained 120 Reduces the Stamina cost of abilities by 80% for 3 seconds after breaking free of a stun, knockdown, fear, disorient, or stagger.


The LordEdit

Under the Warrior's influence, the Lord grants you Health and improves your Vitality.

  Field Physician 10 Reduces damage received while resurrecting another player by 15%.
  Infusion 30 Increases another player's Magicka Recovery by [x] for 8 seconds after you resurrect them.
  Revival 75 Absorbs [x] damage for 5 seconds after you are resurrected.
  Determination 120 Absorbs [x] damage for 15 seconds after drinking a potion.


The ThiefEdit

The TowerEdit

Under the Thief's influence, the Tower raises your Stamina and makes you more efficient with Spells and Abilities.

Champion Abilities Effect
  Bashing Focus Reduces the cost of Bash by [0-35]%.
  Siphoner Reduces all resource restore effects of enemies you hit with Light or Heavy Attacks by [0-15]% for 3 seconds including potions, item sets and ability passives as well as Health/Magicka/Stamina regeneration. Only relevant in PvP.
  Sprinter Reduces the cost of Sprinting by [0-35]%.
  Warlord Reduces the cost of Break Free by [0-25]%.
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Ensnare 10 Grants a 33% chance to reduce an enemy's Movement Speed by 20% for 3 seconds any time you hit them with a bash attack.
  Inspiration Boost 30 Increases Inspiration gains by 20%.
  Mara's Gift 75 When killed heal all allies in a 8 meter radius for [x].
  War Mount 120 Improves your mastery with mounts, removing all Stamina costs outside of combat.


The LoverEdit

Under the Thief's influence, the Lover gives you Stamina and accelerates your Regeneration.

  Plentiful Harvest 10 Grants you a 10% chance to double the yield from normal resource nodes.
  Synergizer 30 Grants 2 Ultimate any time you activate a Synergy while in combat.
  Master Gatherer 75 Reduces gathering times by 50%.
  Windrunning 120 Increases your Movement Speed and Mounted Speed by 2%. Also increases Health and Magicka Recovery by 10% while sprinting.


The ShadowEdit

Under the Thief's influence, the Shadow grants you Stamina and helps you Elude your enemies.

  Befoul Increases the effectiveness of healing reduction abilities by [0-55]%.
  Shade Reduces the cost of Stealth by [0-35]%.
  Shadow Ward Reduces the cost of Block by [0-25]%.
  Tumbling Reduces the Stamina cost of Roll Dodge by [0-25]%.
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Fortune Seeker 10 Increases the amount of gold you find in treasure chests and safeboxes by 50%.
  Merchant Favored 30 Reduces the cost of armor repairs by 10%.
  Treasure Hunter 75 Increases the quality of items you find in treasure chests.
  Shadowstrike 120 After killing a target with a Heavy Attack enter stealth for 2.5 seconds. This can only happen once every 5 seconds.

The ApprenticeEdit

Under the Mage's influence, the Apprentice increases your Magicka and Empowers your Spells.

  Blessed Increases the effectiveness of healing done by [0-15]%.
  Elemental Expert Increases your Flame, Frost, Shock, and Magic Damage by [0-15]%.
  Elfborn Increases damage and healing dealt by Spell Criticals by [0-25]%.
  Spell Erosion Increases Spell Penetration by [0-5280].
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Vengeance 10 Guarantees your next spell will be a critical hit after you block three spells within 10 seconds of each other.
  Spell Precision 30 Increases your Spell Critical rating by 3%.
  Foresight 75 Reduces the Magicka cost of your next spell by 80% after you drink a potion.
  Arcane Well 120 Gives you a 20% chance when you kill an enemy of opening an Arcane Well, which restores [x] Magicka up to three allies within 2.5 meters of the enemy.


The AtronachEdit

Under the Mage's influence, the Atronach boosts your Magicka and trains your Skill-at-Arms.

Champion Abilities Effect
  Master-at-Arms Increases the damage of your direct damage attacks by [0-25]%.
  Physical Weapon Expert Increases the damage of your Light and Heavy Attacks with all bows, daggers, swords, axes, and maces by [0-35]%.
  Shattering Blows Increases your damage against targets with a damage shield by [0-25]%.
  Staff Expert Increases the damage of your Light and Heavy Attacks with Destruction and Restoration Staves by [0-35]%.
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Retaliation 10 Increases the damage of your next Light Attack by 30% after blocking a Heavy Attack.
  Riposte 30 While blocking, grants a 15% chance to return [x] damage to the attacker when you block a melee attack. This can only happen once every 5 seconds.
  Butcher 75 Light and Heavy attacks deal 5% more damage to enemies below 25% Health.
  Tactician 120 Sets enemies off balance when you successfully use Roll Dodge to avoid their attack.


The RitualEdit

Under the Mage's influence, the Ritual grants you Magicka and makes your attacks more Precise.

  Mighty Increases your Physical, Poison, and Disease Damage by [0-15]%.
  Piercing Increases Physical Penetration by [0-5280].
  Precise Strikes Increases damage and healing dealt by Weapon Criticals by [0-25]%.
  Thaumaturge Increases effectiveness of your damage over time effects by [0-25]%.
Passive Unlocks Rank Effect
  Opportunist 10 Increases the damage of your next physical attack by 15% after you interrupt a target.
  Perfect Strike 30 Increases your Weapon Critical rating by 3%.
  Exploiter 75 Increases your damage against off balance enemies by 10%.
  Last Stand 120 When you fall below 20% Health gain Major Heroism which grants 18 Ultimate over 8 seconds. Can only occur once every 20 seconds.


Champion Level RewardsEdit

At certain Champion levels you will receive one-time rewards or unlocks, which will be delivered via in-game mail or added to your account automatically.
