< Elder Scrolls Online

This page contains stills from ESO's cinematic trailers. The cinematic trailers are 3D animated short films intended to market upcoming storylines, and do not always reflect gameplay elements.

Three nameless characters recur consistently across the continuity of the trailers, but never in-game: a Nord warrior, a Breton nightblade, and a High Elf mage. They originally debuted in The Alliances as members of the Ebonheart Pact, Daggerfall Covenant, and Aldmeri Dominion, and remained enemies until at least the end of The Confrontation. Subsequent appearances show them working together: first in the High Isle trailers, and later in the cinematic for the Gold Road Chapter.

Cinematics for content released prior to High Isle occasionally featured one of these heroes working together with characters that appear in the game itself: the Nord hero works with Lyris Titanborn to combat the Gray Host in the Greymoor cinematics, the Breton hero assists Abnur Tharn with the Rage of Dragons in the Elsweyr trailers, and the High Elf hero collaborates with Razum-dar to save her homeland in the trailer for Summerset.

The nameless Breton, Nord, and High Elf heroes are engaged in a battle over an Imperial fort. Their scuffle is interrupted by the emergence of a Dark Anchor, bringing with it a gaggle of scamps, a small regiment of Xivkyn, and a hulking flesh colossus. The Breton hero is slain and enthralled by a Xivkyn mage in the ensuing conflict, and the High Elf hero destroys the anchor's chains with her magic, sending them hurtling back to their plane of origin and severing the anchor's connection to Nirn in the process. The dremora hang their heads in shame, holding their blades before them knowing their Prince will be displeased with their failure as the structure crumbles around them.

In the final scene, we see a reanimated Breton hero riding a zombie horse on a cliff overlooking the Imperial City. He gestures forward, signaling to the shambling army of walking corpses behind him that it's time to march forth.

The High Elf hero, who was salvaged from the ruins of the Imperial fort by the Nord hero in the last trailer, is being used as a siege engine: with the help of a bolt of lightning, the siegemaster unleashes her magicka in full-force, pulverizing a section of the fortified wall.

As the rest of the army storms the breach, The Nord hero takes three other soldiers to scale a walls, approaching the White-Gold Tower. The Nord hero is snagged by two arrows, but survives: the rest of his crew is picked off by the archer. As he approaches the Tower, he encounters the undead Breton hero. The two face off, and the trailer ends.
