Saturius, apprentice to a court wizard and trainer in magic

Saturius is an Imperial sorcerer, and an apprentice to the missing court wizard of the Ebon Tower in Old Ebonheart, Tarhiel. He can be found in the Julianos' Tower of the Ebon Tower castle, and offers spellmaking services, spells for sale, and training in Alteration, Destruction and Enchant.

He is significantly less confident than fellow apprentice, Kelkemmello, as shown in the events of The Sorceror's Apprentices, where the two compete for the title of Court Wizard with your assistance.

He wears a common robe and a pair of common shoes.

Aside from his natural charm and ability to absorb fatigue from others, he knows a variety of spells, which you can buy from him.

DialogueEdit

  • Background:
"I'm Saturius, apprentice of Tarhiel, the Court Wizard."

The Sorcerer's ApprenticesEdit

  • Greetings:
"Hello, %PCName. I'm Saturius, apprentice of Tarhiel, the Court Wizard. At least, I think I still am. He's been missing for quite some time now. If you know anything of his whereabouts, talk to his lordship Caros Cocceius. Is there something I can do for you?"
(After creating Saturius' Robe in the first challenge):
"Oh goodness... Well, I intended to make a robe that one could wear on diplomatic missions up in the cold reaches of Uld Vreach, but I may have gone a bit too far in some places."
(After the first challenge):
"I hope the second challenge is at least in a school of magic I'm familiar with..."
(If you have goaded Kelkemmello into summoning a more powerful Daedra):
"I'm not sure what you said to Kelkemmello but he seems rather worked up over it! Anyways, is this about the second challenge?"
(If Kelkemmello summoned a Daedroth during the second challenge):
"Oh my, is that a Daedroth? Hrm... Perhaps his lordship had a bad childhood experience with a scamp?"
(If Kelkemmello tried to summon a Storm Atronach during the second challenge):
"My goodness that was quite an impressive beast. However, I don't imagine that his lordship is too happy about a Daedra running amok in his throne room!"
(During the third challenge):
"Enough! I give! I give!" Goodbye
(After the third challenge):
"Don't worry about me, %PCName. I'll be okay. Thank you for pushing me to compete. You really helped me overcome a lot of my insecurities. If you'll excuse me, I need to collect my thoughts for a minute."
(After the third challenge if you gave him a Scroll of Icarian Flight):
"It worked! It really worked! Thank you so much for pushing me to compete, %PCName. I wouldn't have gotten here without you. If you could please meet me in my tower later, I have something I'd like to give you. Now if you'll please excuse me, I need to collect my thoughts for a minute." Goodbye
(Back in Julianos' Tower if Kelkemmello is the Court Wizard):
"It's good to see you again, %PCName. Life as an apprentice under Kelkemmello is, let's say, less favorable than it was under Tarhiel, but I can deal with it. Is there something you wanted to ask?"
(Back in Julianos' Tower if he is the Court Wizard):
"Ah, %PCName, my friend! I'm glad you came. I want you to have this. Tarhiel had me working on this in the weeks leading up to his disappearance. In hindsight, I think he wanted to use this during his experiment, but perhaps forgot to take it with him. In any case, I'm sure it'll be quite useful to an adventurer like you." (You receive the Springheel Charm)
"Hello again, %PCName. I've been rather busy since my promotion. His lordship has high expectations of me. Was there something you wanted to ask?"
(If Kelkemmello is dead):
"Hello, %PCName. It's been rather quiet around here without Tarhiel or Kelkemmello around. What can I do for you?"
  • Background:
"I'm Saturius, former apprentice of the late Court Wizard, Tarhiel."
(If Kelkemmello is Court Wizard):
"I'm Saturius, apprentice of Kelkemmello, the Court Wizard. I used to be the apprentice of Tarhiel, before his untimely death."
(If he is Court Wizard):
"Ha! Good one, %PCName. But if you insist, I'm Saturius, Court Wizard of Old Ebonheart."
  • First Challenge:
"Enchanting isn't exactly my strong suit. Oh I knew I should've brought my notes! I don't want to keep his lordship waiting though. Let him know that I'm ready."
  • Kelkemmello:
"He's my fellow apprentice. He's far more talented at magic than I, but can be insufferably smug and antagonistic. He often shirks his duties, leaving me to finish all the half-complete work he leaves behind. He was at odds with Tarhiel all the way up until his disappearance."
  • Second Challenge:
"Well, I was just reading a book on conjuration, but I don't think I'll be able to summon anything stronger than a petty scamp. Then again, Kelkemmello hasn't had the best of luck with conjuration either. I would goad him into summoning something he couldn't control, but alas, I doubt that he'd even listen to me."
  • Tarhiel:
"I'm his apprentice. Or at least I think I still am. In the weeks leading up his disappearance, he wouldn't come out of his chambers. Apparently he was working on some kind of experiment. Eventually, he just disappeared one day without a trace. Lord Caros Cocceius wants anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to report to him right away."
(If you have the Journal of Tarhiel):
  • Afraid he's dead. I have found his journal.:
"This... by the Seven, this is not a joke? The handwriting looks like his, and he did sound like he was intent on proving something to the world. Tell it to Lord Caros Cocceius in the Great Hall, and meanwhile give me some time to collect myself."
"That's terrible to hear, but I suppose it isn't entirely unexpected. Thanks for letting me know, %PCName. It looks like I'm going to need to find a new master."
(If Tarhiel is alive):
"Tarhiel is back in his tower? I'm surprised he hasn't come down to say hello. Thanks for letting me know, %PCName."
  • Tarhiel's final experiment:
"He was working on something that sent him soaring into the air, yes? If I could get my hands on whatever he was working on, I bet I could rework it into something I could use during the duel."
  • Give Saturius a Scroll of Icarian Flight:
"This appears to be it! My goodness this is quite the powerful spell. I'll need to weaken this somewhat. As unpleasant as Kelkemmello is, I don't want to kill him. Thank you so much for giving this to me, %PCName. You can let Caros Cocceius know that I'm ready to begin the duel." (Disposition +20, and removed 1 Scroll of Icarian Flight from your inventory)
  • Sorry, I don't have anything.:
"That's unfortunate. If you find anything, please let me know."
  • Third Challenge:
"If I'm honest, I don't think the odds are in my favor for this challenge. It might be in my best interest to just drop-out, lest I get seriously hurt. Though I do wonder if Tarhiel's final experiment could aid me in some way. It sounds like he made quite the powerful spell."
"So what do you think, %PCName? Should I actually duel Kelkemmello?"
  • Go for it!:
"You're right. I've gotten this far, I can't just give up now. Let his lordship know that I'm ready."
  • You should drop out.:
"You're right. I'm just not suited for the position and I'd rather not get seriously hurt. Let his lordship know that I'm forfeiting the third challenge."
  • I haven't decided yet.:
"Okay, %PCName, but please don't take too long."
(If he is dropping out):
"Let his lordship know that I'm forfeiting the third challenge."
(If he is going ahead with the challenge):
"Let his lordship know that I'm ready for the third challenge."
  • Three Challenges:
"Three challenges you say? Well it's nice to know that I haven't been dismissed outright. This shall be the ultimate test of all my studies. I shall report to the Great Hall once I gather my belongings."
